MGC09 - The Tale of Sir George

Author File Description

File Details
Version: The Conquerors
Style: Role Playing Only

This game is a short story, set in the times when brave knights roamed the land in search of honorable deeds to fulfill, when great battles took place in which noble soldiers died for a greater cause, and when the lands were a setting for spectacular tales, the events of which are only now heard in song! This particular tale is about one of the many quests of the brave Sir George.
There isn't really much more to say - the rest as all waiting for you within the game, an adventure waiting to unfold!

This is my entry for the Minigame Competition. I finished this scenario weeks ago, but I've been desperately trying to correct a crash, so I now hope that the game will run smoothly all the way through.

You need all sound files, and the game must be played on NORMAL speed.
Feedback would be appreciated, Enjoy!

Update: I have corrected the typo and I think I have fixed the crash.

The introduction seems to drag on too long. It could just be me though...

I'm not sure if you're aware but there are some inconsistency with the dialogues. Sometimes you leave out 'NAME:' and sometimes there are no capitals for the starting word.

There's a lot of odd crash problems.

During the task of killing the girl, moving to the south will crash the game. Targetting the treb on the right will also crash the game.

After killing the girl, there is a typo on the chat from the soldier.

The game continues towards the south where the hero isn't there(he moved up?). Then after a few dialogues, the game crashes.

Oh dear, I am very disappointed with how the game has turned out. Thank you for warning me.

I first began making the game on my mac, and the game crashed for no reason that I could find. I then went on to do it on a PC, and put lots of effort into correcting the crash. When I had finally done this, I uploaded it, but evidently it has decided to break itself again, and I have no idea what the problem could be. Does anybody have any ideas? Does it crash on everybody's computer?

The dialogue is meant to appear like that. I found that at times it wasn't necessary to have the name, when the pace of the dialogue sped up, as the speech is meant to sound faster and at a faster pace in those sections, and I always fine myself reading character names which makes it take longer to read...
Similarly, when there aren't capitals, this is either because:
-the two bits of speech are meant to run together in one sentence, but the computer doesn't display all the speech for some reason if I make it say too much at once,
-or the speech is meant to be heard at a faster pace/or a character is interrupting another etc etc.

Sorry if it seemed a bit boring, but this is the intended style of the game, as it focuses mainly on the speech, which is meant to create a feeling of what could perhaps be transferred to "Theatre of the Absurd" in theatre. Well that's what I was trying to do, anyway.

Thank you,
JBurnell

EDIT:

Can someone please tell me if the game works or not?

That's where I crashed as well John, however some people got it to work. Er, or at least Jayatu got it to work.

If I somehow manage to fix the crash now, will it still be entered and judged in the competition like the other entries?

This is great. One of the best humorous scenarios around.

I have updated the file. Maybe this will make it easier for the judges to judge, if they hadn't got it working before, but it should wouk on most people's computers now, anyway.

Humorous story, however I am with John_G on this one, the game crashes before the main action starts about 17-18 minutes in game, even on the update...
