My first try at a campaign
It has two scenarios requiring you to do several tasks which are hard for newbies and moderate for constant players
The tasks include-1]-Collect 1000 of each resources in a map where there is no food,no farms,no sheep, etc.
With some kind of eye candy near the rivers.
For map design,we are covered with a very thick forest which is nearly impossible to cut.So please do not Marco polo and look outside the main base as there is nothing
The story is based around the Scottish army, but with some twists like If you have less than 10 militias, you'll lose.
I do not have much to tell you about. So that is it.
New scenarios will be available for playing after a short while.Till then,Goodbye
I won the campaign in about 10 minutes or so. It was not challenging and enjoyment was limited. A lot of the instructions/hints were worthless as they were either wrong or did not help. On the first scenario, without cheats (I used cheats), the game would have taken well over 20 minutes, just mindlessly collecting resources. On the second scenario, you can get further into the game to win or lose by cheating. If you play legitly, you'll win because the enemy resigns.
There are no difficulty features in this campaign. The enemies are obsolete, excluding the two champions that comes if you cheat in the second scenario. If a newbie were to play this, they would probably lose a couple of times and could very well never beat the first scenario because of the wolves. Most standard players and above would find this campaign a waste of their time.
Some thought went into creating this campaign. Some of the gameplay aspects could have been mistakes however. I believe a score of 3 is well deserved. You need to play the campaign yourself to see what I'm talking about.
Map Design: 2
The design is better than a random map in a lot of areas but the overuse of gaia objects really messes it up. Elevation was slathered around without thought it looks like and glitched cliffs are plentiful. When you first start the first scenario, you see a bunch of birds on your screen flying around as well as a super dog.
Very limited story. Typos here and there. The hints are useless. Scenario one suggests that you use the Market to get food however, you begin in the Dark Age with no resources, only basic buildings and four villagers. The trigger detection in the second scenario was done wrong. The second scenario states that if you have less than 10 militias you die, I had 10 and still lost.
Very poor work. You really did not test this out if not at all. If your aim was to actually make a newbie campaign, this failed badly. Newbies would learn a lot more playing ES's learning campaign. Yours does not teach the basics that newbies need to know. Does it make sense that newbies to aoe should first learn how to collect 1000 of each resource starting with none and in the Dark Age? Does it make sense that there are jaguars and assorted wolves near the TC? On another note, the first scenario had 2 deers and a bunch of fish shores for the players to collect food from.
