Isolation Years

Author File Description
File Details
Version: The Conquerors 1.0c
"Isolation Years"
A cutscene by Thunder77
Featuring the song of the same name by Opeth

Make sure to set your music volume to off, your sound effects volume to all the way up, and the game speed to SLOW. After doing so, restart the scenario. Do not pause the scenario for any reason, and if you do so, restart the scenario. Otherwise just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show... and the beautiful music, of course.

An interesting, yet strange cinematic, and I liked your depiction of the song. The story you managed to define from it stands well enough on its own given the context. I hope we see more from you in months ahead.

Were we meant ot see the map design becuase All I saw was black. But it was still a very nice cutscene. I look at the small piece of map design afterwards and it was quite nice.

You are indeed supposed to see the map design as the song plays. I believe you saw only blackness because in 'Standard Game' you have 'Lock Teams' set, which prevents the fog trick used in this cinematic from working.

Thanks Mashek.

I have now seen the cinematic and is very interestting and strange but I really liked it. I might review this soon.
I regret having missed this when it was released. The scenario fits the music perfectly, instead of the other way around. (As is mostly the case.) Would love to see more like this!

Thanks for the reviews you guys, I appreciate them. :) I guess I didn't mention this because it wasn't something I really made to be published, I made it for myself more than anything. I just supposed that after the amount of time I put into it I should at least stick it on the Blacksmith.

Basse, just two quick responses to your review. One, with the game speed on slow, it's rather hard to match the 1.5 second game second with the music's tempo, so I just got as close as I could. Maybe I did delay more than I should have in a few spots, but I don't really remember. Second, like you said, it's a music video of sorts. Not only do I not really have time to illustrate a background for the characters, but the music's lyrics don't do it either. I don't think naming an unnamed man is really in my place. Just a thought.

Overall I agree with your review, I wasn't trying to argue with it so much as justify my own standpoint. Thanks again. :)

Yeah, I see your point, and if I were to judge how well it fulfilled it's set goals (i.e. to be a good music video), it would've gained a higher score. With the reviewing structure the Blacksmith has though, it's a bit hard to score a story that doesn't fit the frame. I still liked it a lot though! :)
