The area around the Bay of Beran is noted for its varied climate and scenery, which is the result of the complex weather systems rolling in off the ocean. To the West warm air from the tropics has parched the land of its life and there is a rolling desert, while to the East cold winds bring snow with them, and between the two there is a belt of fertile fields of green and pleasant woods. Then to the North the White Mountains tower into the sky, where high in the peaks glaciers feed rivers that wind their way along the long journey to the sea.

TTC - The Bay of Beran is Julius999's Winning entry to Tank_fst's Totally Terrain Contest, hosted between April and August 2010. it also received an award for best map Design in the Forum's 2010 Game of the Year Awards.
The Totally Terrain Contest was a contest that focused on Map Design and Eye-Candy, hence the TTC entries like The Bay of Beran have no Playability and are solely here for you to look at and appreciate the Map Design present.
The Bay of Beran focus on a large Bay on the coast of an unknown country. The Bay is surrounded by neighbouring towns and villages. If you move away from the Bay there is a Beautiful Desert, Cliff Faced area, Forest, Farmland and Snowy Mountains.
Julius999 has created a Beautiful Map Design which implements a wide series of different terrains and weather conditions. To the east of the Bay is a vast desert complete with Pyramids, Desert Provences and an Oasis. To the North are the Snowy Mountains complete with a frozen lake and an Ice temple. If you move to the West there is a fast farmland an d woodland area. Complete with a Shipyard repair workshop and a waterfall. Down south there is the blue ocean extending from the mouth of the Bay, complete with a Lighthouse and Pirate Island. Finally around the Bay itself are various Ports and Seaside Towns.
The Map Design is outstanding an defiantly deserves its TTC win. The whole map has great terrains mixing and use of elevation and cliffs. Eye-candy is also very clear and widely used to make the map look its best. Eye-candy include Town Centres with just the middle or just the edges, a waterfall, overlapped buildings to create new looking buildings and a huge amount of triggers creating interaction. A especially loved the overlapped hay Stacks to create a new looking farm.
Julius999 has used a huge amount of triggers in the scenario to make the Map feel alive. There is a vast amount of Task and Patrol triggers to move people around and make them look busy. There are Desert Explorers, Boats constantly moving around the Bay, People looking around the markets, Farmers on the farms and a Woman feeding turkeys. Julius has also used Name triggers to tell us what everything is. This makes the map better because we don't get confused and think “What’s that supposed to be?”
Unfortunately In my opinion I believe that there is a bit too much going on. There seems to be too much to look at all at once. It took me hours to see the beauty of this map. I also think that it is strange that in one Bay-land area there can be an Iceland area and a desert almost next to each other. However, I do not believe this is a very big flaw.
Overall I think that The Bay of Beran is a fantastic TTC entry and a deserved win, despite my opinion of “too much going on”. It has one of the most beautiful map design I have seen on AOK and is a inspiration for all other scenario designers. You should look at this as an example of a Great Map Design. Totally Fantastic.
