I'm not what you would call an "experienced" designer. In the past, I was a major league noob. I released a total of two scenarios a very badly bugged multiplayer game called "Relic-ball" and a second file which I will not even name it was that bad. That was two years ago.
This above anything is a test of how much my skills have improved, I would enjoy some criticism.
"Blasted" was a bold attempt at bringing something different to a contest showcasing beautiful mapping, but i am afraid the author was hoisted by his own petard. Unlike another map called "Smile No More" that brought a similar concept of an arguably ugly city, this map lacked the hefty emotional impact that the latter brought to the table, and felt devoid of meaning. The tricks are brought off fairly well, with a ruined, smoldering city in a canyon burning in the aftermath of some sort of nuclear explosion. Following the maps request i refrained from using Marco Polo but as a result my explorer nearly got blown to smithereens by the maps volcano.
The main problem is that the map lacks much in the way of terrain. There really is no conventional terrain design to speak of and the entirety of the map rests on the utilization of triggers gaia objects for its effects. Its alright as a tech demo or utility map but provides little enjoyment to my eyes.
