A great, and fear inspiring battle rages between the forces of "Good and Evil", then suddenly a hush falls upon the battleground. Lord Dantares, pulls his sword out of the cold black heart of Sabato the witch, and watches as she slowly drops to the ground. It is done. King Harrold, still gripped with fear over the ordeal and the possibility of her returning from the afterlife, orders the body burned, but her essence, he has sealed up and placed in a special orb, which is then buried. For ten years, all is well throughout the land, until a group of miners mistakenly start digging up the wrong site. What they are about to unleash, will make the very mountains cry out in agony.
Before you down load this campaign I suggest you play my other game in this series, Sabato the Witch. I.D. 1006.http://aok.heavengames.com/blacksmith/showfile.php?fileid=1006 It’s not necessary, but will help with the story and increase your enjoyment of this campaign and it scored well in the reviews, so it is worth playing.
When I made Sabato Returns my intention was to give everyone something they will enjoy playing. This was achieved by giving you the choice of game style. There are 3 “routes” you can choose from while playing. The first two are for those who like to play as the “GOOD” guy. These are referred to as “Good though Hayfield” (Fixed force) and “Good though Highochre” (Build and Destroy). The third choice is for those who like to play as the bad guy, this is referred to as “EVIL” (RPG). So you can see there are 3 styles of game play, with 3 completely different games, following a similar story in each. And all this takes place on one map! So I’m sure you will find your favorite route, it’s already a big debate amongst those who tested it. Please note, this campaign is a single scenario with 3 games and has no historical references, so if you are looking for that remake of a historical battle you wont find it here. There are many things hidden in each game, these are extra’s and not important to the game, but they all help making it more enjoyable, so for those who like exploring have fun! Many of the different tasks in the game have different solutions and random events, these all make the game play slightly different every time you play it. So if you manage to avoid a battle or a bridge crashes in to the water it’s ok. I wanted these things to happen and it’s not a loophole. In fact I have purposely left only one loophole in, can you save 5 cavaliers from the beginning? It is possible! I have spend somewhere in the region of 500 hours making and testing this campaign, with magic spells the player can use, food systems for the evil game, many heroes to find, some very interesting effects, anti cheat triggers and a racecourse you can bet on! I hope you will find something you like. A full walk through (Sabato Returns Hints.doc) and sound files are included with the down load. So if you get stuck read the walk through before complaining or giving up! And a warning to those who like a challenge, Highochre route on hard is very hard!
Thanks to all who helped test Sabato Returns, you guys really made a difference. And thanks to my wife for putting up with me sitting at the computer day after day.
Enjoy.

Whatever you want from a game, will probably be found in "Sabato Returns." In this 1-scenario campaign you choose one of the 3 most popular styles of our time, and enjoy several hours of great gameplay with trigger tricks, random events, magical spells and several brave heroes that are ready to fall in the fight with evil... what you like to be evil?! This campaign also allows that... and many more!
PLAYABILITY: What can I say? This campaign has been fun in many aspects when I played it. And every time I played it, I discovered things that I previously did not notice. There were no bugs, and I was always sure what to do. 5
BALANCE: Level of difficulty depends on the setting you pick. It was pretty darn hard on HARD, and not that simple on EASY. RPG became more predictable after several plays, but B&D kept me keen at all times. 5-
SUGGESTIONS: POSSIBLE SPOILER!! Sabato starts to give cuts on the life-force after the orb-task, but you can fly high before it too. The deer provide a good source of it, so maybe you can make her notice it earlier? Also the monks that Sabato desperately hates are very few on the map; I think you should add some at random places.
CREATIVITY: This would have scored a six if I was a hacker! The trigger tricks are awesome, and are almost everywhere! Explosions, fireballs, earthquakes, and many others are met continously through the game! And there is always the racecourse, the in-game game that might seem the most fun aspect to you! Wait until you see Sabato turn into a fish!.. 5+
MAP DESIGN: It was one of the most realistic maps I ever saw. While giving us lots of room to stampede through, the author includes eye-candy and many characters on the map. 5
STORY / INSTRUCTIONS: The story was the brightest category; it also had some unanswered questions that set up the scene for... a sequel. The instructions were clear and easy to read. But I thought that all of the side-quests should have been signified as an objective aswell. The story out-balances it though. 5
AT THE AUTHOR: Great campaign, we are all waiting for the Final of the Sabato series!
Yeah, you get the idea? |

The campaign is the second part of the Sabato series; Sabato Returns contains three scenarios on the same map. The game style is RPG for the "Evil", FF for "Hayfield" and B&D for "Highochre". The campaign will certainly attain or has already the status of a classic and figures on my personal best list. The story is fiction; it is about the eternal tale of the battle between good and evil that raged in Harold's kingdom ten years ago. Ten years of peace and prosperity, but can you seal the evil away forever.
PLAYABILITY: Sabato Returns is a wonderful campaign, one of the best I played, pure entertainment, challenging with pace and a high replay value. Reserve a weekend or better parts of your holidays for the endless fun this campaign has to offer. You chose to play an evil or a good character and whenever you play, do things a little different; there are different solutions to the quests, random events, and small things to discover to make this a new experience every time you play. 5+
BALANCE: The balance is difficulty level dynamic; the campaign played perfect on all settings, but I recommend Highochre on standard or moderate the first time. There is much to do besides defending your base and building up, to clear a path, a search for elephants and a side quest with a willful transport system. Hayfield has a demanding start defending against a superior force, to continue with besieging, all parts leave you time to prepare and suits best to explore, memorize the map, best to play it first. The Evil is just great with a challenging food/life force system to put you under pressure whenever you leave the base. 5
CREATIVITY: Sabato Returns is very creative, multiple outcomes, variations of quests from one game choice to the other, the balance, spells, magic, live force, Hades Gates, earth quakes, Berserker power, ghost riders, a booby trap, magic barriers, good use of triggers as well as anti cheat triggers, random events and the best racecourse I saw in AoK until now. You can place bets and the outcome is random every time. Many things, like a riddle or certain quests are unique to the game you select; the racecourse is available to bet at any time, is great fun and was not the only but the most fascinating item for me. The creative design, sound files and good perfectly fitting music added to the pleasure, the one for the evil being my favorite. 5+
MAP DESIGN: The map was one of the few top designs I played, beautiful and realistic, no heaping of Gaia, every detail was of top quality. Even though all options play on the same map, it does not feel repetitive. The map changes slightly, units are in various locations, you take different paths, a gorge or an area is passable, not passable, becomes passable according to the choice of your route and play. The end scene alone takes place in three diverse locations, accessible by boat, tunnel and portal with a variety of units. 5
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: The objectives are always clear. The fantastic story develops well with good pace for the game play, never looses the thread, you either save or kill the king and finally confront the evil. Helping hints, appealing bitmap and a full walk through confirmed the perfect impression of the description page. 5
OVERALL: One of the best campaigns at the blacksmith.
OBSERVATION: Things go better with peanuts!
IN CLOSING: Definitely a must have and I recommend to play ID 1006 Sabato the Witch first. It brings you into the story, is challenging and has a great game play.
Thank you Carol, you made this wonderful campaign possible.

Easy as a river, with some violent streams sometimes to keep you alert.
Balance: 5
Very well done. I almost lost a couple of times, and always loved to get this sarcastic message each time I was going down to the ground...
Creativity: 5
Loads of great ideas, talking mostly about the story events, and to make it even better, some great sense of humour from place to place. I got especially interested by the way you happened to place the player into some hazardous and very dangerous situations. I always play maps with trying to not loose any unit. Meaning I'm having hard time to use baits and stuff like that. I've lost no one, 'cause you forced me to use my brain, which didn't happened for quite some time... There is always a smart way around, and probabaly many others... I got lucky enough to find my own each time. Smartly written!
Map Design: 5
I'm a big AoM player... and didn't miss it a second. It's beautifully executed, and thanks to whatever God you could think of, no ugly building upside down all over the place. Even some AoK God Powers for those who can't live without....
Story/Instructions: 5
That was a lesson for me! Because this is always the hardest and most forgotten part. Simple, but funny, and such a perfect timing. And thanks for always backing important matters up into the objectives. Loads of reading though, I know it's necessary but... as far as I practiced this stuff a bit on my own, I never found a better solution...

This goes also for your first part of this story:

It was sweet being able to choose between good and evil. I just finished it on evil and just began on good. Casting magic spells was pretty cool too. I loved blowing up people's gates. I can't wait to play it on good. There were absolutley no bugs or errors found while I was playing this. No mistakes at all.
Balance: 5
Not bad. It was hard, but not impossible.
Creativity: 5
Horse racing was fun as well as unlocking magic spells. Having three different endings must have been hard to do. Awesome job.
Map Design: 5
It definitely shows that a lot of time and effort was put into this, it was also well detailed.
Story/Instructions: 5
I didn't have any trouble figuring out what to do. You did a good job on the storyline too.
Additional Comments:
By the way, Sabato Lives. This sequel was a lot better than the first. You definitely have to make a third one. :)[Edited on 10/01/06 @ 09:29 PM]
