Gwyndlegard

Author File Description
Lord Basse
File Details
Version: The Conquerors
Style: Mix

Gwyndlegard was a peaceful country until two and a half years ago when it's jealous neighbour to the north-west, Xioché, invaded it with a force of thirty thousand led by the military geniuses Count Tengil and the witch Queen Xaphira. After the peace treaty two years ago, Xioché holds most of Gwyndlegard under occupation, save for the last free city to the east, Pumpkindon, where the country's leader Lord Mezenghi now lives.

In the country's southernmost province, Gwynhill, tension is now growing. A sergeant called Immanuel has long wanted to ambush the local Xiochan governor and start a rebellion, and when said governor takes slaves from Gwynhill village, a clear violation of the peace treaty, he gets his chance. Unfortunately his girlfriend is among the ones taken as slaves so the quest becomes quite personal.

You will take the role as Immanuel and his close friends to criss-cross the country, save your girlfriend Emily and free Gwyndlegard from the evil witch's claws in this humorous epic!

FEATURES:

• A giant map with great variety, from green green forests to open plains and snow-covered mountain tops,
• A mix of playing styles including AI-driven Build & Destroy, stealth mission in RPS and criss-crossing Fixed Force,
• A rather epic scenario that doesn't end after an hour or two,
• 965 triggers, for those who want to know
• Partially spoken dialogue (not self-made though, be thankful for that!),
• Focus on story and gameplay; no mods, data changes or overly complicated trigger tricks,
• An overdose of weird Basse humour!

Brought to you by StormWind Studios.

The story continues in The Rockspring Revolution.

Gpayne31 It was fun but I noticed a few very frustrating bugs... for one, in Selenir, enjoying the time clicking on people and hearing what they say (Knights were especially entertaining) I went into a little box, where a Spearman and Halberdier were apparently talking. However I sent my whole party in. For whatever reason, they were able to get in, but on the way out, Felicity couldn't get past the Paladin guarding it. I was forced to declare enemy and kill the paladin to get rhrough... which would probably piss off Maruvian, but that didn't happen.

The only other thing I found a bit frustrating was while recruiting volunteers, talking to a random person and then a hero wouldn't recruit the hero, but it would play the music. So I had to wait until the random dude would stop talking, and then click on the guy again. Not major, but it was annoying.

Overall, very nice, I hope to finish the first scenario by the end of the day.

Glad you liked it. :)

Several people have complained about the paladin bug by now, quite a wonder nobody discovered it during playtesting. I will have it fixed for the update coming quite soon.

The other bug puzzles me. When I play it I can run around, click everyone and they all join as soon as their dialogue is over. I think (and hope) you just misunderstood; all the heroes who join you have longer dialogues while the rest just have one line. Walking about clicking everyone will trigger several dialogues at the same time, probably removing one dialogue's text so fast you don't have time to see it, and thus it can seem as if there was a pause before the hero joined. The music (the first theme music I assume) could be firing coincidentally as well, there are no dialogue triggers that immediately play music or activate a music trigger. Not that I know of anyway. :P

At least that's what I *think* happened, seeing as I've never heard of such a glitch in the gamr during the almost two years of playtesting. :P
stroke i'll eat anyone who gives this less than 4.5!
i_like_h3ll i have found two errors
1-i found the lost monk before the prison quest. when the quest start you lose all your units, but when i finish it the monk dont return to my side.
2- after the attak of tengil's elite cavalry the game crash

1. Thanks, I'll make sure to fix that.
2. This is probably a crashing sound file; about 60 seconds after the "The main army is on the move" dialogue comes, there's a sound of hooves playing. If you open it in Audacity/Goldwave or a similar program and reave it over the old file (GWG - hooves) it should solve the problem.
korth555 Great. Intense. Filled with excitment. An extremely great game, gave me a lot of inspiration to put in more effort into my second secnario. The game was fantastic.
