Just for this Post:
v1.05 mainly was made to increase space a little bit. I do mean a little bit. I designed the map to be crowded and a push for space, one of the most valuable resources. Otherwise I feel the gameplay works out the way I wanted. You WORK for that space.

This map is basically what I envisioned a good forest map should look like. It runs similar to Black Forest as all forest maps go, but with some eye-candy. You start in the middle of a clearing, and your resources are scattered about. Mainly in the clearing but once in a while you have to go out into the forested area to find some of the farther resources.
Known Bugs:

Currently trying to figure out how to make it so "garden" patches don't spawn on cliff edges. If anyone knows send me a shout. The same information would also help me correct where mountains spawn. Thanks ahead of time!

Straggler Trees don't spawn.
Moved the "Eye Candy" up top in my object generation list, but I'm still experiencing the same problem. Could overloading the map cause it to.. not generate spare objects? The problem is simply that the extra objects just don't load. The forest becomes patches of trees, no stragglers, no rocks, no etc.
And anything you post on the hosted location of this file.

An alternate route would be to report it to with a subject that contains The_Woods.

Unzip this file and move the The-Woods_v1.05.rms to your Age of Empires II folder usually located at
c:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Age of Empires II/Random/

If you have moved it then obviously go to your Age of Empires II folder and place it in teh Random folder.

Pretty good map. The only thing that seems off to me are the forests. They are quite snaky and they have very little space between them. I would recommend setting the clumping factor for the forests close to the maximum and increase the forest spacing from other terrains. I think this would make the forests look more natural.

Also, about straggler trees not spawning, I've experienced that problem or a related one multiple times. I resolved it by putting the straggler tree code (or whatever object it was) at the top of the object generation code. The code would almost always work after that.
