The battle of Tannenberg 1410 AD
(The greatest medieval clash of arms)
This campaign consists of one scenario. It includes one .cpx campaign file and many sound files in .mp3 format. Unzip the campaign file and all soundfiles into your Age of Empires II folder. They should go into the right directories. All MP3 files start by string \'1410-\', so it is not hard to remove files, if you wish to get rid of them.
Features:
- Another approach to fixed force scenario (Increased HP extend the life of the unit and postpone the end of the battle, Extra attack value represents the morale of the troops, different events during the battle may change yours or your opponent\'s morale hardly.) Your tactical decisions are even more important then your skill of fighting!
- Challenging
- Detailed map
- Comprehensive scenario instructions, hints and objectives
- More than 400 triggers for a single battle !!!!
- A lot of new sounds and music (original medieval soundtracks)
- 3 different levels of playing (NORMAL, MODERATE, HARD)
- Very long Intro scene
- All characters are based on true historical persons
The scenario is based mostly on historical facts, although some events are not 100% historically accutare.
Story:
A stream of refugees hurried along roads and flowed across fields away from the little town of Tannenberg in Poland. The old men, the women and children toted a few blankets and pots. Armies were massing behind them. There would be glory work soon. Anxiously the refugees snatched at every rumor. One way or the other, this day, July 15, 1410 would determine the fate of millions in eastern Europe…
Important info:
Turn off your Music Volume in the Options menu of the game.
Scenario should be played on Normal speed.

It's too hard to win when you've got vertually no control. |

It is easy too win. If you use the right tactics. The Cutscene was too long for me. If an entire cutsene is just talking or watching a hauk fly, I get bored. mabe you could make it optional to watch the cutscene. |

The cut-scene was brilliant I thought. So involving, so realistic and detailed. No one else ever tries it and is what makes it unique and something not to be neglected. I don't know how anyone can get bored over it, guess nobody here ever gives a damn about the important aspect of scenarios, the story. |

It was a good cutscene.... But it lost replay value sitting through a birdie scouting the field. I think the beginning showing the camp and army inspection is good... Maybe you could choose weather or not you watched hawk. |

I liked this game but the enemies got my king and killed him while he was without soldiers (well, almost). The intro was pretty good but it dragged on and on and I almost just quit the scenario. Other then that, GREAT GAME! |

Wow! This game is a simulation of a REAL mediavel battlefield - the whole battle is a raging mass of knights, hardly any aok tactics such as halb vs paladin can be used, but you have to make crucial decisions such where to send your knights and heroes, killing enemy heroes etc. It has an advanced morale system.
The different thing about this game is that units have such high HPs, a couple of knights fighting will take ages to kill each other, you don't need much micromanagement.
Edit: Finally beat it on hard without losing any of my heroes. Yay![Edited on 01/14/07 @ 04:27 AM]
