The battle of Tannenberg 1410 AD
(The greatest medieval clash of arms)
This campaign consists of one scenario. It includes one .cpx campaign file and many sound files in .mp3 format. Unzip the campaign file and all soundfiles into your Age of Empires II folder. They should go into the right directories. All MP3 files start by string \'1410-\', so it is not hard to remove files, if you wish to get rid of them.
Features:
- Another approach to fixed force scenario (Increased HP extend the life of the unit and postpone the end of the battle, Extra attack value represents the morale of the troops, different events during the battle may change yours or your opponent\'s morale hardly.) Your tactical decisions are even more important then your skill of fighting!
- Challenging
- Detailed map
- Comprehensive scenario instructions, hints and objectives
- More than 400 triggers for a single battle !!!!
- A lot of new sounds and music (original medieval soundtracks)
- 3 different levels of playing (NORMAL, MODERATE, HARD)
- Very long Intro scene
- All characters are based on true historical persons
The scenario is based mostly on historical facts, although some events are not 100% historically accutare.
Story:
A stream of refugees hurried along roads and flowed across fields away from the little town of Tannenberg in Poland. The old men, the women and children toted a few blankets and pots. Armies were massing behind them. There would be glory work soon. Anxiously the refugees snatched at every rumor. One way or the other, this day, July 15, 1410 would determine the fate of millions in eastern Europe…
Important info:
Turn off your Music Volume in the Options menu of the game.
Scenario should be played on Normal speed.

This scenario represent the battle of Tannenberg 1410m between Teutonic order and polish army. This is the best, the best actually for Aok
I don't fake you must,I said must try it is amazing.
PLAYABILTY:The playability is amazing the scenario start with an amazing introduction that last for 15 minutes where the people that will download this mission will wonder how a designer can make all this:the intro start in the camp of the army of the polishs where there are eye candies like a man that put the hoofs to an horse...with amazing real sounds...the king star to gallop to the main army (the gallop is with the sounds of the screams of the cavalier to incite the horses like in reality)there begin the show of the army every single platoon with his historical commander is here. After this amazing presentation with the fly of an eagle the designer show the Teutonic army. After the charges of the cavarly of the two armies the human player take command of the reserve. Here exellent strategy is need(protect banner, heroes that fight..retreats...).
BALANCE:There are 3 levels of difficulty. All units have increased hit points and attack to make the battle more lasting.Read the hints of the mission to see about balance.
CREATIVITY:The creativity of MCcrngoj is amazing this scenario is the best download it.The battle is great.
MAP DESIGN: The camps of the armies are amazing, fantastics too eyecandy, the map is beautyful the part of the map where you don't play are also beautyful.
STORY:The stroy is excellent;the scenario is heavily historical accurate a must for people who like history, the battle is great there hints well explained the history. |

PLAYABILITY: I have mixed feelings about this. It is a work of art, but sometimes it can be very annoying. You are kept waiting for almost 20 minutes before you start playing as text rolls by. I also lost track of my heroes frequently... How many are there? That stupid guy who commands the Lithuanians keeps on dashing out in front and getting slaughtered... And all his men run away! AAARGH! C'mon guys, I can't do this all on my lonesome!
But other then that... Great! It is difficulty dynamic, and sure presents a challenge no matter what difficulty it is played under. For once, a campaign thats about tactics and survival -- not who has the most gold. And its all computer controlled! Impeccable triggerwork.
BALANCE: On easy it is tough, and I have yet to win on medium and hard. Its ideal for veterens and people who like a challenge. A far cry from the campaigns where you hack and slash your way through vastly inferior enemy forces.
CREATIVITY: This is probably the most unique campaign I have ever seen... Its more like a simulation then anything. Your troops have moral, they respond to different situations. A work of art in that category. No campaign has ever replicated a medieval battle as well as Tannenburg.
MAP DESIGN: The map is well designed, and eye candy abounds. Take a squizz at those people eating deer at the polish camp. I also liked the river Tannenburg... All swampy and marshy like much of eastern europe. I like the bit where the artillery fire at the your cavalry -- but there is a problem. You recieve a 'yurt created' message when they hit. You could have avoided that by making the yurts get created under a different player. But thats a minor quibble. GREAT!!!
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: I don't see why this deserves anything less then a five. The historical accuracy is unmatched. Arnold of Malbork? Count von Schwarzenburg? Impressive research work. It also has detailed instructions, right down to what will increase the moral of your troops.
In short, 'Tannenburg is a masterpiece. Don't miss this jewel. |

The Grand Battle of Tannenbuerg was great, enjoyable and beyond any Fixed Force out there! Beautifully done trigger tricks, 100 % historical accuracy, terrific music and sound, the feeling of a real battle and many other great aspects make this one of the most impressive scenarioes ever created!
PLAYABILITY: There was a beautiful cutscene at the begining, and it never seemed too long, in fact I could take another hour of it, if the author would! Then there was a battle, with moral, honour and strategical monuevers. If your strategy is right, glory awaits you as the Polish and Lithuanian Allience is victorious. If it is wrong, your troops shall flee in terror and your homelnad will fall to the crusaders...
I will not spoil any more of it for you, go and play it yourself! 5+
BALANCE: It was very challenging for the player, yet beatable. Here the author manages to keep the realism of the battle and make it a challenge as well: if you win you have a large force left, as it is in a real-world victories. If you loose you may have some soldiers left, and that is also true because the troops might flee in terror. Again it was beautiful. 5
CREATIVITY: Wow, there was such a multidude of creativity in this scenario that I do not know what to start with! The revalation of the troops on both sides, section by section... or the cannons that burn the ground... or the troop moral, the herald scene, the standard in the wind... 5+
MAP DESIGN: Although some individuals mentioned that it was not the greatest, I declare them wrong. Battles such as this were generally fought in the plains, where it was easier to maneuver horsemen, and the plains had little in them, save an occasional tree or a stream. I think the author made a perfect use of eye-candy already, and it looks great. Did you see the entrance into the Teutonic Camp? 5
STORY / INSTRUCTIONS: It was historically accurate 100%. All the real names were used and the armies were separated into regiments with correct units. The whole feel of a medievel battle is reflected at us.
The instructions were done marvelously as well, I always had a good idea of what I was supposed to do and what I wanted to keep from happening. 5+ |

Tannenberg 1410 AD is an excellent historical scenario campaign.
Playability:
Extremely entertaining and challenging with phenomenal features. I played and achieved victory on all levels of difficulty. There were no playability issues found, and all intended aspects remained a spectacular portrayal of the historic battle. 5
Balance:
The balance for this scenario is excellent. The differences in the three levels is mostly due to the nature of the unit responses being more or less aggressive according to the difficulty setting. This balancing effect is in the game, and it works perfectly to create the intended balance of the fixed forces, in an open map design. The open map design is a large battle field, and the player's freedom to move and apply tactics is made more or less difficult depending on the difficulty setting they chose. Included for game play is an amazing morale system that requires players to use tactics more than fighting skill to achieve victory. The morale feature's effects further enhances the balance by requiring players to pay attention to the many clues and directions given for play. 5
Creativity:
Brilliant and stunning scenario design! The level of creativity in design surpasses what a Review can indicate. The cut scenes are intense and stirring. The many details provide an impressive scenario experience that is a realistic reliving of the historical subject.
Map Design:
The map is an excellent recreation of the historic battlefield near the villages of Grunwald and Tannenberg in what is now Poland. Incredibly realistic representation of the expansive battle field that held 'The greatest medieval clash of arms.' The positions of the two converging armies are marked with standards represented by AoK flags, that can be captured. Through out the map there is a kind of minimalists approach to the design -- in that the design provides only details important to the history and the game play. The terrain and elevations are precisely painted, and represent the stark features of the real historic landscape. The result of the approach is inspiring. 5
Story and Instructions.
The well crafted instructions, and historical references provide players with an amazing foundation for the recreation of the history. A fine instruction screen image and history supplement forwards the player into the game. The hints and scouts are accurate, and the displayed messages are meaningful to both the history and the game play. 5
Final thoughts:
Excellent...a masterpiece of scenario design. |

This is an excellent campaign. It features brilliant map design, an excellent intro, an EXTREMELY balanced game, (By that I mean that you don't just have 40 soldiers while the enemy has 1000) and a moving storyline (Yes, even history can be great sometimes). Overall, this is a must download. Come and get it Ladies and Gentlemen! Enter the Battle of Tannenberg 140 A.D.! |

Well what can I say? Is it just me, or is this the best fricking FF scenario done in AoK? Overall, this is a historical scenario based on the battle of Tannenberg 1410 A.D
Playability: 5
I have to admit, it took me with great difficulty to beat this scenario on "hard" the first time I played it. (how the hell did it happen to be hard, I can't explain) But I still remember that magnificent finish when the last wave of knights
charged at the puny remains of my force (and Vituatas').
I had so few men that the king paladin himself was fighting the Hochmaster! At the end of the game with the victory cutscene, king Jagiello literally rides ALONE to the flag standard, (he has like 20 hp left) being the sole survivor of the battle (literally, I had 2 or 3 cats and 1 swordsman and about 4 skirmishers left. My ally only had the Duke left and a throwing axeman)
What a battle it was! I have to congratulate MCrignoj for recreating such a realistic experience!
Balance: 5
Well counting that the enemy had like 600 superior paladins, and attacked in unison, not in waves like my dumb army, and that you had to kill every single german on the battlefield, and that even if you kill the hochmaster at the beginning, the enemy won't lose, contrary yourself losing the battle just as soon as your king dies... The balance was fine (depending on the difficulty level, I haven't played the scenario on moderatte and standard yet)
Victory lies in crucial decisions, not exactly in microing or tactics. Make sure the allied duke lives! You cannot win without your allies!
Creativity: 5
Well what can I say? If It impressed me then it is good. Frankly, i have to shamely admit, i like FF scenarios more than the outdated BnD (there's plenty in AoM and RoN), and the countless semi-tedious, sort of lame RPGs (come on, if I wanted to play a lame magician warrior role I would have just bought Diablo or Dungeon Siege!) Of course it all lies in the creativity on the designer rather that in the genre.
In this case there is nothing for me to say.
Map design: 5
Just as always, it was professional. It lacked the ingenious creativity of Ingo Van Thiel, but it had no flaws that I could think of, so I won't be too inquisitive about this. I liked the bombard cannon trick (I'm afraid that I will have to steal it!) and the usage of the relic and a cross above it, to resemble an altar (way to go, lol).
Story: 5
The Stage is set and miraculously performed. The story, the dialogue, the church chorus, the music, the white eagle - all set the perfect image of the practical good guy vs bad guy clash for justice, and made the viewer sympathise for
the Polish cause. Instructions are fine, they explain how the game works and all the attributes and morale etc....
I liked the idea for using the initial damage and the additional damage (initial+additional) to regulate morale.
Maybe it would be great to control King Jagiellow at the end, because the idiot tends to go into the heat of battle and et damaged ALTERNATIVE: make him stronger, /w/ more HP or attack or something. |

The battle of Tannenburg is one of my favorite campaigns, I haved played and watched it hundreds of times and it has yet to cease blowing me away!
Playability---
The campaign begins with a morning rooster crowing. The screen then shows a smokey morning campfire. Sounds of the camp are heard then the king mounts; it's of to battle! As the king and his body guards leave the camp birds scatter from the trees. They reach their armies and you get a quick overview of your future troops and some Lithiunian and Tatar ally troops. A white eagle is released, a spy for you (you are the Polish). The eagle glides and you see the well-armored German lines. Soon, battle begins. The Lithuanians and Polish charge to meet the Germans and enemy cannon fire (try doing this on high volume and fast gamespeed. Whoa!). The sounds of battle are heard loudly in the fields. Then, the charges continue. I will not reveal the rest in fear of spoiling this fantastic campaign. The scenes were the soldiers gather around banners are great! And I still have the music from the German charge stuck in my head. Lag was apparent, but it did not hinder the gameplay. I give it a 5.
Balance---
A bit hard at first, but then it can be mastered. Your allies are a huge help and it is impossible to win without them. The morale system makes this even more realistic! This was excelently balanced so I give it another 5.
Creativity---
This was very creative. Instead of the bombards actually firing, explosions were inserted for the shot and impact, also nice trick with the terrain change. The cutscenes were awesome, not the boring kind. The banners, sounds, and extras make this fairly creative. I think a 5 is in order.
Map-Design---
The real battle field was expertly re-created in this fantastic campaign. This campaign is a feast for your eyes! I give it a 5.
Story/Instructions---
The detailed story line and instructions never left me wondering or hanging. Also, a nicely done bitmap met me on the instructions screen. So, I give it another 5!
Final thoughts---
Anyone who loves Age of Empires, History, or large scale battles should get this campaign! This campaign inspired me to learn more about the Tannenburg, the big battle almost made me change MY campaign to one! So get this campaign and be amazed! |

Playability: 5
Wonderful. A thrilling bit of gameplay that kept me breathing fast while I protected the king throughout this awesome scenario.
Balance: 5
Perfect. Two giant armies storming eachother. Whats more balanced that that?
Creativity: 5
Awesome. I normally have trouble finding campaigns on this website that ACTUALLY pose as a historical significance. When I played Tannenberg 1410 AD I could'nt get enough of it.
Map Design: 5
Beautiful. Tree placment, camps, and the whole thing just gave me thrills.
Story/Instructions: 5
Great. When I read your scenario instructions before the game began I expected a list of objectives. What did I get? A very detailed analysis of the war itself.
Overall Statement:
This campaign was the easiest to score. Full fives just wasn't enough to do this game justice. Full tens would have been much, much, much more gratifying of this beautiful work of gaming.

Tannenberg 1410 AD is a campaining based on the battle of Tannenberg that had taked place on 1410, in today Polandish village of Tannenberg.
Playability: 5
The playability was perfect. Over the battle the units were getting few over time. However, when getting control of several units, you must control them wise and carefull. 5/5
Balance: 5
The ballance is also great, an equal amount of strenght, but the superiority of the morale and the tipe of units is determining the fate of the battle. 5/5
Creativity: 5
Your system of morale is verry creative, losing some leaders may lower the morale, and keping them alive may change the battle course.
Map Design: 5-
Thets a bit weak point, because map's design isnt so creative. A grass 1 or 3... some little dirts, and a river, isnt much u know but the design still deserve a great rating. 5/5
Story/Instructions: 5+
This is the greatest part of the scenario! The history of the battle is so detailed, that im amazed how exact it is (i supose the designer fiinded a internet source, such as Wikipedia).
If i could, i would give you a ten, but for now, the possible rating. 5/5
Additional Comments:
I have no words... Tannenberg 1410 AD is one of the masterpieces of AoKHeaven. Keep up!
