I used the books as a guide, not a script, in creating this game. You play as House Trakand, eventually gaining control over Caemlyn, the Two Rivers, and Cairhien to become a power equal (hopefully) to both the Seanchan and the Trollocs.

To fulfill the story in the books (where Andor gains access to Cannon thanks to Mat) I recommend playing House Trakand as Spanish. Being the only player with access to gunpowder units may be your key to victory.

Directions:

Extract to your Age of Kings folder.
In Scenario Set-Up, leave Teams all blank.
Set player 7 to Land Defense AI
Set player 8 to AllianceThundaEmpire
Set player 2 to AllianceThundaEmpire
Leave the other players as standard AI, or set them according to your own preference.
Hard difficulty will be hard indeed.

Be sure to start building your economy as soon as you get your base.

It's quite a good map, however I feel there is still much more work to be done before it will feature as a more well-rounded game. Focus more on elevation and be sparse with eye candy like hedges (found by rotating jungle trees), flowers, rocks etc. I found the Aiel Waste in particular to be bland and quite frankly useless. It could certainly do with more to make it interesting, such as elevation, and some sparsely scattered resources, such as wild boar and/or stone (located near the mountains). What about their own settlements?

One thing in particular got me was that I had no idea where Caemlyn was, and although I've read at least half of the series (actually, some years ago now) I wouldn't be able to remember let alone refer to the book every time an objective came up telling me to go somewhere. Others will want to know to. Perhaps you can cover this by including signs in the map design and even a few descriptions in SCOUT?

Also, a more personal remark, but I'm not sure I liked simply having everyone as "The Free Nations". It may well have been better to feature the Trollocs as a single player and feature a few more of the main players (such as Andor, Tear and the Aiel), allowing for more flexible game play. Also, many of the cities could do with more to make them inhabitable, at least to look the part of a city.

An enormous improvement! I did like how you created the Tairen Alliance, as well as featuring the Trolloc hordes as one player. Perhaps you could make the Trollocs slightly stronger than what their starting positions allow them? You could give them a few more camps isolated across the map, to act as points to raid nearby villages from.

I also noticed you did not use an eighth player, which, if you wanted to, you could add as a second Trolloc force or even as the White Cloaks. They could feature as a single fort somewhere and rely on heavy cavalry to see them through.

An updated version is now up, following Possidon's review (for which I say thank you). A few changes:

-The scenario now uses a couple different AI's (Alliance Thunda Empire and the Land Defense AI, included in the download).

-The objectives and storyline ought to be more intuitive.

-More terrain mixing, as requested.

-The addition of a second Trolloc tribe.

-Less general destruction in Caemlyn at the outset (which I concede was irritating, and distracting).

The update features a much more improved version of the map, and is now more along the lines to what it should be. :-)
