This is my first, and only, random map script: Fallen Leaves. It's designed to be a beautiful forest, covering the remains of a lost civilization. There's a bit of water, but it's nothing that would require a navy. I think it looks best at Medium size or greater.

Here is a preview of Fallen Leaves at Normal size.
I hope you like it!

Good job scripter64 on your first random map. It creates a relaxing atmosphere, and the desert lakes add some contrast. I really like the use of beach terrain in the desert. It looks like a dried up pond.

What I would suggest to improve it would be to add some terrain contrast. You seem to use grass2 or grass1 throughout, except for the forests and desert lakes of course. Branch out to grass3, dirt3, or leaves terrain (it's called "Fallen Leaves", right?).

You also mention wanting to create the feel of a lost civilization. Perhaps place some roman ruins, the barracks ruins, or some rubble. You could place some dirt2 patches, and only place these objects on the dirt2 patches. It would create the effect of a fallen fort for settlement. Skeletons could also be added occasionally.

Thanks for looking at it, Leif! There are a few skeletons surrounding the ponds, an old graveyard, and a small patch of ruins, which represents the last visible remains of the ancient civilization. It's all but lost in time, as the leaves have hidden it away :)

Honestly, I haven't actually worked on this map in a few years, but since I created this account, I decided to upload it lol. Your suggestions are great, however, so I might update it when I get some free time.

AI scripting is where my attention is, at the moment.

I'm afraid I disagree with my colleague here, as I do not think the oasis has any place in what would at first seem like a Northern European forest. The gloomy forest, along with the ruins, would best feature a few swamps or idle lakes. Just my opinion, though. ;-)

I didn't have a real location in mind when I designed it, but if you think it generally resembles Northern Europe, I can see why the oases would seem out of place. I had thought that they would give the viewer the impression that the climate of the land has been in transition for a long period of time. What did this land look like when the ancient people resided there? I wanted to leave this question to the viewer's imagination. It might not be entirely realistic, but I hope it makes some sense (it was my thought process over 2 years ago lol).

Thank you for taking a look, Mashek :)
marathon I liked it!

But Rabid Wolves are deadly to ais.

Thanks, marathon :)
offwo200 Scripter64, this map is great (and so is all the stuff you're doing right now as well). Can I use an adapted version of this map (without the rabid wolves) in my "megarandom for ais" map? I will give credit as appropiate.

Thanks, offwo! Feel free to modify it as you wish.
No credit is necessary.

This map has been updated to use the new rms features of UP v1.1. It will now be recognized by AIs as a Black Forest map, due to "ai_info_map_type BLACK_FOREST" being placed under the "PLAYER_SETUP" section. In addition, each player's large gold mine group has 1000G per mine, due to the "resource_delta 200" on the "create_object GOLD" command. Please see the UP readme for more about these commands.
