Bombard Tower Patch
for 1.0c version of The Conquerors
B1.0c / 1.0d / 1.1a
You name it.
In 1.0b patch we got this change:
•Bombard Towers now do piercing damage instead of normal damage (the major effect is vs. rams).
•Bombard Tower attack reverted from pierce to melee.
•Trebuchet attack changed from pierce to melee.
•Sea Tower/Wall/Gates placeable in the editor.
1. Locate "*\Age Of Empires II\Data" folder.
1. Backup the original empires2_x1_p1.dat by renaming it.
2. Copy the new empires2_x1_p1_B.dat into the Data folder.
3. Rename the new empires2_x1_p1_B.dat to empires2_x1_p1.dat
I wish everybody would download this patch/mod, so we could play multiplayer games with fixed bombard towers.
You can easily switch between the two files by renaming them. Just two renames per switch.
I have also included demonstration scenario about this.
•Copy BombardDemo1.scx into "*\Age Of Empires II\Scenario" folder.
To get best results, use these settings in "Standard Game":
•Reveal Map: Normal
•Starting Age: Standard
•Lock Teams: No
•All Techs: No
OR simply play from the map editor.
See the scenario instructions in the objectives panel (alt+O).
By playing this scenario with both original 1.0c and this patch, you'll clearly see the huge difference.
Awesome! I've been waiting for something like this, but I'm wary of changing the data file without knowing how. Does this work with the collector's edition?

Yes, this should work with the Age of Empires Collector's Edition too if it is already 1.0c or have been patched to 1.0c version of The Conquerors. You can check your game version from the game's main window's "Microsoft Age of Empires II The Conquerors Expansion ENSEMBLE STUDIOS" panel by clicking it.

you mentioned that you wanted people to multiplayer with this. where can you multiplayer because i can never find games to join on gamespy
