It's 1299, and little over a year has passed since the events from "Gwyndlegard". Xaphira is still stripped of all her magical powers and locked up in a top security prison, Tengil is still nowhere to be found and most people think he's dead, and Gwyndlegard is at peace. But while there is peace in the west, the situation in the east is not so calm.
At the start of the Xiochan invasion five years ago, the easternmost province of Gwyndlegard, Rockspring, declared independence after it's leader Lord Aerun refused to send his armies to Mezenghi's aid. Rockspring's armies should protect their own land, he said, not some faraway province that no one in Rockspring cared about. Mezenghi could do nothing as Xaphira's and Tengil's armies were flooding his western front.
But now, after the second war against Xaphira has ended, Mezenghi can finally turn his attention to the east. Suitably enough, the old King Aerun of Rockspring recently died and his much more agreeable son, Hanley, took the throne.
Mezenghi calls in one of his most loyal commanders, the recently knighted Immanuel, our hero from "Gwyndlegard", to join him on his journey to Rockspring, and to help him bring the region back under his rule.
But as it turns out, not everyone in Rockspring is keen on making Mezenghi their leader again. When nationalist revolutionaries seize the throne of Rockspring, Immanuel gets caught in the crossfire and ends up leading the fight against the revolutionaries.

After 125 downloads, updated to v1.1:
- Fixed a sound file that crashed the game for some players,
- Renamed the characters in the Palace cut-scene,
- Made the go-to area in Rockspring Castle for the "Defeat Lovewater" mission bigger,
- Made sure your units can't get trapped outside the castle after the prison scene,
- Made sure the Ghost Rider *always* stays invisible until he pops out,
- Fixed a spelling error.

This scenario was goodplayble. I found some random bugs, which could come in the way somehow (mentioned in a comment somewhere above), but that detail is not enough to lower the rating though. It was absoloutly fun playing this, i can´t stop replaying it. 5-
Balance: Very well balanced. It was simple enough on easy, but somehow still a challenge, and I had to restart dozens of times on hard. 5
Creativity: I think this is the strongest point. There were dozens of side quests, the quests itself were absoloutly new to me. The main objectives were creative as well, in a way i have only seen in movies before. It also features, as said, a lot of Humor. I liked the way of keeping cheaters busy. This will surely get a 5+
Map Design: The most realistic maps i ever seen were in "Sabato Returns" and "Ocean Blue" . I could not imagine how that would be beatable. But Lord Basse again filled a great map with tons of stuff. It looks very realistic, there was a good use of eyecandy i rarly see in scenarios. I felt kinda pity to destroy the nice world with my miners and lumberjacks. I think it would score a 6, but to bad, that is not possible in the HG´s reviewing system. So ill give it a 5+
Story/Instructions: You know, i hate stories with the first part has got an enemy, then he dies, and then again and again a new main enemy is coming. That is found in here as well but we meet a good old friend as well. The making of the cutscenes were incredible - breathtaking - made. The story is really epic, just as i would imagine in a really good movie. It ended open, so we will of course expect a sequel. The instructions were very clear, although many. You can always be sure what to do. 5
In Conclusion: Quoted from Lord Basse´s (famous?) review on "The Best" , but this time no joke - Forget about Ulio, this is the best new thing ever! -

The starting of the scenario is a bit calmest than all the parts after the prison, but were also pleasent to play and watch. The entire rebellion and end part was a good trip, especially the end. But, yet the story were not as funny as marvin and rob, it is more complete and also a bit funny. Not as Gwyndlegard, but in fact, that scenario was a really good work.
The starting were easy, but the rebellion part were really balanced to the experiance of the players. And in easy dificulty too, this part were enough hard to have a real tripp, and enough easy to be possible. The end part were more hard, but also possible, and, I think it is the best part of the scenario.
The effects were even amazings. There is a great work, using good sound and music. Just the final duel music that I don't really like. Much effects were reallistic and give to the player a real good impression.
Map Design: 5
The map was extremly well detailed. "All places" have their porper desing, themes... The eye-candys were used well, and all elements were placed at the better locations.
The story were a great work. Well devlopped, and much time suprising. I like the end, it add some suspense... Only, I think that the part in Brightcliff was not very necessary(Yet on the other hand, you can skipp it so...). And Prehaps Mezeghi and Imanuel Should have an escort... Exept this this is a good story. Just one thing: the objective of rigning the hero and 15 soldiers to the inner court don't really work. It take a long time beafore they were in the good position. Yet they are in the inner yard!
I like this scenario, It was really fun tho play it. A really good work, and you can play it an other time and it always you will also enjoy it.
And I think it is one of the best Lord Basse"s scenario.

'The Rockspring revolution' is a sequel to the scenarios Gwyndlegard and Marvin and Rob, but it can be played on its own, and you can read up the past history in the history section. It is a mix of styles, combining RPG with Build and Destroy elements.
The scenario is really enjoyable. Along with the main quests ( which is first RPG like fighting bandits and cutscenes , then build and destroy ), there are various sidequests which I loved. Except the one to find the missing pages, that is maddening! ( I only found 4 of 5 ). There were some bugs like a bunch of bandits repeatedly popping up on the trade route between my town and green, but not really any game ruiners. The side quests go on in parallel with the main game , so it takes a lot of concentration and multitasking to handle it. Also, the final battle is really cool.
I played the game on Moderate. While it wasn't too hard, I found myself reloading many times from unexpected ambushes. The sidequests aren't too hard either, but still took a few tries ( especially the Crucible ). If you destroy Purple's market , docks and kill his gold miners in a camp to the north though, he will eventually starve out and you can easily take him out. I didn't need Menzenghi's army for this, but bought a lot of mercenaries.
Overall, I'd say its perfectly balanced.
Creativity is the highlight of the scenario. Mainly, it is how the sidequests are active in parallel with the main quest so you always have a lot on your plate. I loved the Ralph fight and the Ghost rider. The final battle is really original and well-triggered too ,never quite seen anything like that.
Map Design: 5-
The map design is great. The countryside and towns look realistic and the terrain looks good. The only thing I'd criticize a little is the overuse of eyecandy elements, especially broken carts and ruins.
The instructions are superb, I was never confused about what to do, and the hints/scouts were very helpful. I never found a crazy archaeologist quest though it is mentioned in scouts.
The story is OK, but not outstanding. It is predictable , and some elements of it don't really flow along such as Lovewater's magical powers and the Necronomicon which can raise the dead. ( 'It is magic' is not a good explanation ) . But still a good effort.
If you loved Gwyndlegard, you'll like this scenario too. With a mix of gameplay elements and a sprinkling of Basse humour, this is a download of choice.
5. Very "funny" scenario. Rockspring revolution is a enjoyable sequel to Gwindelgard. The main quest is almost suffisant to have fun. But if it's not enough, you have some crazy side quest. The bad point is "the crucible". Beat Ralph is sooooo long! My city have been almost destroyed while I was forced to make sure that I survive to a figth whit a huge war elefant...
4. Mostly well balanced, but as mentioned above, some side quest totally take your attention and force you to only take care of it while your ennemy cause you serious dammage. The last "boss" is almost impossible at the first attempt, but it is only a huge challenge and he is -of course- beatable.
5. When you play a Basse's scenario, you know that it would be very original, maybe too much ;) One more time, Basse use is incredible imagination to create this new world and to give you various and greatly executed challenge. The sad point: not enough Basse's joke! When I have read the description of the scenarion, I have see that I can wait for "An overdose of weird Basse humour!". Don't pay attention to it, it's a liar! Exept the side quest and some side detail (I still look for the plumed archer), we have an "underdose" of Basse's humour.
5. Probably the Gwydelgard "serie"'s stong point! A very huge and complete map whit a lot of detail and work. A very good use of eye candy bring good to an already good map. Using "marco-polo" to take a look to the map (after completing the scenarion of course ;) ), I have feel the huge work behind...

What else can I say beside that the story is very well writted and take us, giving us a furious need to finish the scenario and see the end of the story (you are responsable from my last insomnia!). The instruction are complete, don't reveal us too much. I will forever remember how much good the rockspring's berries are!

The Rockspring Revolution is a huge single player scenario created by Lord Basse of Stormwind Studios. The scenario itself is a sequel to Basse's successful 2010 scenario, Gwyndlegard. The story is set a year after the events of the previous scenario and focuses on Gwyndlegard's relationship with the neighbouring province of Rockspring and their revolution for freedom. The game combines RPG with Build and Destroy elements.
The Rockspring Revolution is a highly enjoyable and epic scenario. It has a thoroughly enjoyable Main Quest which involves stopping a revolution and killing the rebellious leader, accompanied by various Side Quests which are very creative and enjoyable too. I found that the game was free of lag and the few bugs I found didn’t effect gameplay at all. The Rockspring Revolution is an extremely creative and highly enjoyable scenario which involves a great story, an outstanding Map Design and a well balanced and creative gameplay. Another great factor of the scenario is its very high replay count. The Rockspring Revolution is a scenario that can be played over and over and over again.
I found the game almost perfectly balanced. I played on Moderate I found the game not too hard but not too easy at the same time. The game was challenging but the hints gave vital help if you got stuck at any point. One of the most difficult parts of the game is the B&D element because you are limited to the Feudal Age whereas Rockspring Castle advances to the Imperial Age, giving them better units and stronger buildings. However overtime you get better troops from your allies, the mercenary camp and Lord Mezenghi's army. You may have to restart a couple of times especially in the unique final duel between Immanuel and Lovewater, or if you surprised by a Bandit ambush.
Very creative map design. Ingenious story, superb map design, excellent trigger-tricks, what more can I say? The Rockspring Revolution is full of creativity wherever of look. I found the most creative parts are the Side Quests, especially “The Crucible Arena”, and the “Final Duel” between Immanuel and Lovewater. The story was very ingenious and full of twist which I really liked, the map design was also very creative.

Probably one of Lord Basse's strengths and highlight of the Gwyndlegard “Series”. The map is the eastern province of Rockspring that is separate from the country of Gwyndlegard. The map consists of Rivers, seas, forests, mountain ranges, farmland and settlements such as Towns and villages. I especially love the design of Rockspring Castle which mixes middle Eastern buildings with that of Western European buildings. The map uses loads of design techniques like fantastic Terrain Mixing, Map Copied buildings and use of GAIA objects like Broken Carts and ruins. Triggers are also used to make the map more lively by make units move around the map and patrol areas. Overall a beautiful and detail map design.
As I said before the Story is very ingenious and creative, another highlight of the Gwyndlegard “Series”. The story is full of twists and turns and introduces new characters such as Charles Lovewater and Emma the mayor of Wellfield, as well as also returning some old characters like Immanuel and Marvin. The story is exciting and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The cliff-hanger at the end just leaves you wanting more. The dialog in the story is great, keeps you active and is very humorous, it helps the story move along. The vast number of heroes also give the story a much bigger atmosphere.
The Instructions are extremely good, they tell you exactly what to do and are very helpful at letting you do that. If you ever get stuck you just need to turn to the Hints page and all the help you need will be given. The Scouts page is also used for hints for the Side Quests.
Overall The Rockspring Revolution does not disappoint. It is thoroughly enjoyable and keeps you on the edge of your seat, making you want more even after you've finished. I must say that The Rockspring Revolution is one of the best scenario I've played in 2011.
