Advanced Genie Editor
for Age of Empires, Rise of Rome (including DE), Age of Kings, The Conquerors (including DE), Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Campaigns.
This is a program for editing data of genie (DAT and DLL) files. It can edit properties of units, civilizations, technologies, graphics, terrains, sounds, player colors and some other things.
Please, ask questions on the forums.
Check out this program also. It's for graphical modding.
For editing language files in The Conquerors,

Notes
Make your own backups or use the auto-backup feature!
Extract to anywhere and run. No help files are included.
You may need to run the program as administrator if your game is installed in a protected folder.
You may be able to undo changes by going back to the text box and pressing Ctrl + Z.
Tips
You can have multiple search entries separated with "|" letter.
Upper search boxes are inclusive and lower ones exclusive.
Example: "tower|ship|ram"
Use the check boxes to toggle matching between all and any entries.

Great utility I've used it in AOE2 HD with no problem at all, but I'm getting unhandled unknown exception when I try to open the AOE2 DE files |

@freereign121 There's a size difference between empires2_x2_p1.dat and empires2_x2_p1_originalsounds.dat, maybe there's some data that software can't process, but I made a backup of the original file, then opened empires2_x2_p1_originalsounds.dat, made some changes there, and renamed it to empires2_x2_p1.dat and the changes took effect in game |

Look no further, as the latest version of AGE, compatible with DE's latest data file, comes pre-packaged with the game!

Also make sure you disable "Allow adding terrains" (in case you have it enabled) before you proceed. |

Hey Keisari Tapsa, what ever happened to an update mention of support for Age of Empires Definitive Edition? Can this Advanced Genie Editor edit AoE: DE's empires.dat or equivalent or is it still something about that empires.dat being encrypted or whatever I may have heard?

I'm not familiar with how the dat file is protected in there. The technology trees are not saved in the dat file for AoE. |

so are you aware of anyone knowing or talking about where the technology trees are hidden? perhaps you may make your advanced genie editor be able to modify as well? |

@Keisari Tapsa, it seems that the UI of AGE is limiting the usage of UP 1.5 features.
I'm looking for a workaround, but can't find the userpatch 1.5 sourcecode or some detailed cheatsheet about the new Tech Effect updates:
e.g.
"New tech effect type 7: Enable Tech, which can disable, enable, or force a tech for multi-use." |
