Tech. Trees and Unitlines have no data in RoR.
Creating a civilization is not currently doable easily in RoR as far as I know. |

I just started using this and it looks great.
But I edited the Hittite tech tree (all I did was disable some techs and adjust some bonuses) and now Hittite units (of any kind) can walk through buildings, water, etc. I certainly didn't intend for them to have this as a bonus. ;) Why did this happen? Thanks for any help.
Edit: Well now I have a more serious problem, the changes I made to the game cannot be reversed even though I made back-ups of the .dat files. I uninstalled AoE/RoR, deleted all traces of it from the registry, reinstalled it, and the game is still not back to the original. Is there something else I have to delete from the registry? I won't be able to play AoE ever again on this computer if I can't figure this out. :( Again, thanks for any help.[Edited on 11/24/14 @ 10:24 PM]

Did you edit terrain restrictions?
Google "Virtual Store" and it might get solved.
You can simply search all your hard drives for the dat file. Then if you want, you can edit that "virtual" dat file. Or install your game to non-program files folder. Easier to just install it to another drive and change drive letter from AGE opening dialog. |

Thanks for your reply.
I didn't edit terrain restrictions, or anything with terrain at all. Some civs can walk through buildings/terrain, some can't (even some of the ones I didn't edit can do so).
But I actually figured out the other problem. :) I didn't know that AGE was editing .dat files in the "compatibility files" folder of the AOE folder. So I was able to replace them with the original .dats to revert to the original game (no problems). I think this is the same thing as Virtual Store? |

Sounds like the same problem as Virtual Store.
Did you edit lots of unit data, or just few things that you could list to me? |

The only unit I actually changed was Cleopatra's Barge (made Engineering affect it and changed its base range to 15). But the terrain problems happened before this. I changed Hittite, Palmyran, and Persian pretty much like how they were changed in UPatch, but did a little more for Hittite (+2 ship range total, +50% siege HP, no phalanx, med. wall, or guard tower). What's weird is that Hittites could walk through things and also couldn't attack, build, etc. Palmyran didn't have the terrain problem but its Villagers couldn't do anything after doing one task. And Persians were completely fine, while several untouched civs (but not all) were like Hittite.
I actually can't remember everything since I got rid of the edited .dats. I don't even know if all these details are important, but I guess it gives you an idea about the extent of what I did. I'll try to edit some things again (sometime) and let you know if the problem happens again. |

Well I tried it again, and this time I edited the tech trees and bonuses of every civ (basically to create new civs), and there are no terrain/building problems at all. I have no idea what could've caused that before.
But I do still have questions: how do I change civilization names? And would you happen to know what number "Fisherman" is in the unit data for AoE/RoR (or how to find it)? Also, I want to reduce just the gold cost of a unit. Example: I want a civ's Juggernauts to cost the same wood, but no gold. But modifying the gold cost does notihng no matter which modifier I try. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help. Sorry if these are too many questions.[Edited on 11/26/14 @ 01:42 AM]

Sounds like some kid went on your computer and edited pretty much everything.
Civilization names are in language files I think. To edit fisherman etc, you need to select proper civ from the civ menu in units tab. Gaia doesn't have many of the units proper civs have.
You can use a tech to reduce gold cost. It also happens to be, that some patches were hardcoded edits in exe, instead of the proper way in dat file. It is also possible that you had disabled from the top "automatically" and forgot to press "copy" button next to it, when editing unit costs. If you proceed with a tech, you need to place it onto existing tech, or create new research for it to be researchable by you in the game. |

Can I edit the language files (at least the parts required for civilization names) with AGE 3, or do I have to use Pebble32 or something? |

AGE 3 may mess up your language files, but it can edit them.
I advice using some 3rd party tool for that. |
