Advanced Genie Editor
for Age of Empires, Rise of Rome (including DE), Age of Kings, The Conquerors (including DE), Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Campaigns.
This is a program for editing data of genie (DAT and DLL) files. It can edit properties of units, civilizations, technologies, graphics, terrains, sounds, player colors and some other things.
Please, ask questions on the forums.
Check out this program also. It's for graphical modding.

Notes
Make your own backups or use the auto-backup feature!
Extract to anywhere and run. No help files are included.
You may need to run the program as administrator if your game is installed in a protected folder.
You may be able to undo changes by going back to the text box and pressing Ctrl + Z.
Tips
You can have multiple search entries separated with "|" letter.
Upper search boxes are inclusive and lower ones exclusive.
Example: "tower|ship|ram"
Use the check boxes to toggle matching between all and any entries.

In my AoE RoR game, I added the ability to make wood from House (same with make food from Farm). It must be mad but I want to test before I create new "Wood-Farm" unit/interface.
Every thing is OK, as I get wood from House, and Wood Index of that House decrease over time. Only one thing I tried 3 days with no luck: When Wood Index down to zero, I want that House auto be destroyed, same as Farm, but it didn't.
I change every number, attributes of House to the same with Farm (ofcourse keep well known indexs like Hit Points, Poppulation Cap,...) but House still stand after finish wood farming.
May be I must change some of unknow index, or maybe this is lay on file .exe file.
Anyone know how to achieve this function? Thank a lot! |

You're welcome.
I think farms are more or less hardcoded in the exe, but you can try copying actions from trees and mines. |

That's what I tried on first place. But I can't find where is trees/mines attibutes in your program so I switch to Farm (maybe it lay somewhere but I dont know). Can you show me how to find these attibutes? Thank! |

They are on the bottom of units tab.
They have been called abilities and commands too.
It could simply be that you can't make a building destroy itself when its resources are harvested. Farm being special case. |

Hello Keisari Tapsa! Thank you for amazing program.
So,I decided to add a new unit. He has several animation files. I use Advanced Genie Editor 2015 v.3.9. If I understand correctly I need Decompressed dat file (empires2_x1_p1.dat - for example) and insert animation files of new unit.
After that put button "Compressed Dat File"?
The button "Decompressed Dat File" is not active.
Can you explain in detail how use a button "Decompressed Dat File" correctly?

New graphics go into some drs file.
Then you add graphic entry with this program to graphics tab that refers to the newly added slp files in some drs.
The decompression tool is useless for most modders. Opening them is not supported at the moment. |

This is a great tool!
Can I ask for a little feature?
I miss the ability to load language files from The Forgotten expansion, which use text files instead of DLL.
I don't care about editing them (since I can do that easily with Notepad), but it could be useful to read them, so in the units editor I see the unit name instead of ARCHR or BRKS, which sometimes are intuitive, but usually I can't decipher them.
Could you add this?
Text files use this syntax:
[ID][spaces and/or tabs][string]
where [ID] is the numeric ID, [spaces and/or tabs] is random number of spaces and/or tabulations, and [string] is enclosed in quotes, like this:
4567 "Hello world"
4568 "Dogs and cats"
4569 "A long long long text ..."
Some lines (comments) begins with \\
Some lines are empty
Some lines have a string ID (without quotes), like this:

Em, is possible to make double Terrain Restrictions. I mean 1 explosion and 1 again is hole in the land. And what the function of Replication amount in terrain restrictions ? |
