Advanced Genie Editor
for Age of Empires, Rise of Rome (including DE), Age of Kings, The Conquerors (including DE), Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Campaigns.
This is a program for editing data of genie (DAT and DLL) files. It can edit properties of units, civilizations, technologies, graphics, terrains, sounds, player colors and some other things.
Please, ask questions on the forums.
Check out this program also. It's for graphical modding.

Notes
Make your own backups or use the auto-backup feature!
Extract to anywhere and run. No help files are included.
You may need to run the program as administrator if your game is installed in a protected folder.
You may be able to undo changes by going back to the text box and pressing Ctrl + Z.
Tips
You can have multiple search entries separated with "|" letter.
Upper search boxes are inclusive and lower ones exclusive.
Example: "tower|ship|ram"
Use the check boxes to toggle matching between all and any entries.

Still does not go. Furthermore with the release of this new patch all my added units were removed. |

Hi,
after my first usage of the program (just changed the classification of Camels being ships) the program starts to crash every time I click on the unitslist. Before I changed the camels it runned just fine.
One thing to note is that I modded Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors but with the Forgotten Empires mod (non-HD).
The locations for language are standard AoC path except the language p1 file location which is in Age of Empires 2\Games\Forgotten Empires\Data\language_x1_p1.dll
Compressed data set and DRS files are in the Forgotten Empires folder as well.
How can I fix this crash? |

@GranCalabaza Your units were removed due to the patch overwriting the .dat file

While opening African Kingdoms in the advanced genie editor All of the new TF (The Forgotten) and AK (African Kindoms) units don't have stats (they're blank, like when you create a new unit) and all of the new AK units are missing except for wildlife, like the crocodile, and even these don't have stats.
Also, I'm not using the default paths (Mine isn't steamapps), although that doesn't seem to be whats causing the problem.
What might have a part in this though, is that I'm not sure if my "language file path" is correct. The other one,"language x1 file location" is correct.
The .dat file I'm using is "empires2_x1_p1.dat" that is on the AK folder.

x1 file is for The Conquerors
x2 has both The Forgotten and The African Kingdoms

The program still crashes after I click on the units list and the armornames file re-appears. |

You could share a link from your Google Drive or something with the data file for me to try to open. Or you can verify the game files and open the official file to make sure that you have the correct settings in the open dialog.

Yes, i know that but I'm talking about actual path names. The ones on AK are the same but i can't find the ones on TF. The lang file for AK is the "key-value-strings-utf8.txt" one but I don't know what the other one is.
Like:
For "language file location": I don't know the 'exact' path that is supposed to be here (not the default one, and i believe the file name isn't the same as what's on default either).
For "language x1 file location": C:\Program Files\Age of Empires II HD The African Kingdoms\resources\en\strings\key-value\key-value-strings-utf8.txt
"language p1 file location": Is greyed out (disabled).
