Do you know how to extract AOE III units to AOF units? I want to add a cannon in one of my scenarios. |

The 3D models need to be converted to 2D sprites. Perhaps you can place the units on black terrain and take a screenshot and edit it in GIMP then import to Turtle Pack to make an SLP of it. |

I am currently converting Agamemmnon's unfinished Russian mod from AOC to AOKTF, but unfortunately when I make changes to Slavic buildings and units the same goes for the Magyars. Any idea to "separate" them from each other? I know it should work as i saw mods with separate graphic set. |

If they are using same graphics, you can add new in the graphics tab and assign them only to the civilization you want in units tab. Remember to leave "including graphics" unchecked.
Find all the existing graphics, duplicate them, and assign new SLPs to the new copies. |

Hi Tapsa
I ran into another problem some days ago that I wasn't able to solve yet:
I added some new civs to the game (latest UP v1.4RC) and they all work perfectly except one (civilization slot 24). The game crashes when I try starting a standard game using the civ but everything works fine when I play a random map from the scenario editor. I tried already a lot but I couldn't find the cause of the error yet. So actually I wonder if someone experienced a similiar problem yet and/or what is loaded additionally playing a standard game compared to a scenario editor test game...?
Thx a lot for possible support!

Are the civ starting resources different from other civs? Have you wiped out / disabled scout, villagers, or town center from civ 24?
AFAIK UP comes with some text files where you describe the scout unit etc. Have you checked that? |

Hey, it's me again :D
I want to change the language Dll description of some technologies, but it seems like the program does not save my changes. Here a little example:
The description for the technology Pavise normally says: Research Pavise (Genoese Crossbowman +1 armor/+1 pierce armor).
After I wrote "Archers" instead of "Genoese Crossbowman" and clicked on a different technology, the description is back to "Genoese Crossbowman" even though I saved.
I assume that it is because the technology is from the Forgotten Empires mod, but the language.dll file is not in the same folder. Here are the paths of the language files I use:
Age of Empires 2/language.dll
Age of Empires 2/language_x1.dll
Age of Empires 2/Games/Forgotten Empires/Data/language_x1_p1.dll (this is the only language file in the Forgotten Empires folder)
I am using the latest version of the program. |

Have you checked "write language files" in the open files dialog? If you click on another unit and then click back, and the language field has reset, the editor has not registered your edit at all, so saving helps nothing. |

I just tried the "write language files" in the open files dialogue. It does not change the new stuff I wrote when I click on a different technology, but the program crashes when I want to save my changes (no response from the program). I also tried the "write to the latest file instead of base file" box, but then the program changed my changes when I click on a different technology. |

If editing language entries works at all, AGE shows status messages in the bottom like: Wrote "Text" to 17022. If not, either your open files options are incorrect, or the file is incompatible with the DLL editing module of AGE. By no means do I guarantee that the DLL editing works properly or at all. You can try to use Resource Hacker by Angus Johnson instead. |
