Advanced Genie Editor
for Age of Empires, Rise of Rome (including DE), Age of Kings, The Conquerors (including DE), Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Campaigns.
This is a program for editing data of genie (DAT and DLL) files. It can edit properties of units, civilizations, technologies, graphics, terrains, sounds, player colors and some other things.
Please, ask questions on the forums.

Notes
Make your own backups or use the auto-backup feature!
Extract to anywhere and run. No help files are included.
You may need to run the program as administrator if your game is installed in a protected folder.
You may be able to undo changes by going back to the text box and pressing Ctrl + Z.
Tips
You can have multiple search entries separated with "|" letter.
Upper search boxes are inclusive and lower ones exclusive.
Example: "tower|ship|ram"
Use the check boxes to toggle matching between all and any entries.

In the units tab search for sea and choose all results, then press hide in editor so it changes to 0 for all of them. You only need the parts of sea gates available to place that have stack unit on them I think. The others are automatically added pieces. |

It is my first time using this program, and I was lost after entering the Units tab, i cant find the space to search "sea", can I trouble you giving me more instruction?

In the up left near civilization drop down list and unit type list filter options. The upper white box is searching box and the one below it excludes from the search. |

Thank you for your efforts to make this editor. When I try to change some thing, for example, AOE ROR, the time to upgrade to next age, I reduce to 1 second, I was disconnected from the Multiplayer game, with the notification about sync error, I am using Garena platform to play with others via internet. So, does this editor can be used for online or offline only?[Edited on 06/11/16 @ 06:33 PM]

Every player needs to have the same DAT file when playing online, or else the game will out of sync. You can ask the other players to download your DAT file. |

Hello, I am having trouble getting some units to appear.
I am using the latest version and trying to unlock the dead units in the editor for artistic scenario screenshots.
However they are not appearing.
I am doing it for the africa/forgotten packs.
I open
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Age2HD\resources\_common\dat\empires2_x2_p1.dat
I load the civs i want scroll down and unhide the desired units in editor.
eg. first on the list. LEGION_D is set to unit hide value 0.
I also at this point un-hid some of the "regular" hidden units that are in the lists on AOKheaven.
I then save the file and exit.
Load the game.
The "regular" hidden units appear, the dead bodies do not.
I go back into genie and load the file. all dead units such as LEGION_D still say they are unhidden yet they do not appear in the editor.
Can you help? am i missing something or should they be appearing?
for example, should another box be checked? all dead units appear to have an airmode value of 1. and at the bottom of the genie ed box they have a slp view of None. |

They should appear in the other tab of scenario editor, but it seems that only few are there and even those were already in the scenario editor. I think your only chance is to edit the game executable. It is extremely challenging and patches will break your edits. I will say no more about exe editing. |
