Advanced Genie Editor
for Age of Empires, Rise of Rome (including DE), Age of Kings, The Conquerors (including DE), Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Campaigns.
This is a program for editing data of genie (DAT and DLL) files. It can edit properties of units, civilizations, technologies, graphics, terrains, sounds, player colors and some other things.
Please, ask questions on the forums.
Check out this program also. It's for graphical modding.

Notes
Make your own backups or use the auto-backup feature!
Extract to anywhere and run. No help files are included.
You may need to run the program as administrator if your game is installed in a protected folder.
You may be able to undo changes by going back to the text box and pressing Ctrl + Z.
Tips
You can have multiple search entries separated with "|" letter.
Upper search boxes are inclusive and lower ones exclusive.
Example: "tower|ship|ram"
Use the check boxes to toggle matching between all and any entries.

By the way I fixed the issue I was having with my previous post, for some reason editing unit 24 on Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Clone Campaigns will prevent AI from creating troop centers, I'm not sure which value on the unit caused the problem but I just set the unit to vanilla stats and it fixed the problem. |

Hey there - AGE prioritises the drs files wrong.
gamedata_x1.drs gets loaded first by AoC, meaning that any slp file already found in there will get ignored if it's again in gamedata_x1_p1.drs.
Currently it favors slps that are in gamedata_x1_p1 as well, which can lead to unexpected behaviour when modding. |

Hello,
I'm new around here and I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, so I apologize in advance.
I'm using AGE 2016.3.13 to create some units and I've come across a problem when changing unit graphics. It seems like no matter what I change to the unit's graphics or even the icon, the result is not shown when I play the game. I can see it properly in AGE's SLP display window, but once I save and try out the mod, all changes in unit graphics are nowwhere to be found. Any suggestions?

I guess you can add units into HD, but they need to be in certain id range.

Yeah, language file editing is not guaranteed to work. If it does, you got lucky. |

Can you please tell me how do I use this to edit the interface? It uses 32 bit SLP files, and this is the only editor I know that supports modifying them (32 bit SLPs).
Any ideas on what I can do? |

I recently added a new unit and it was listed in the units list. Now it is not available despite key value text file added and the data set having the unit.
Also do you know why if I upload a new mod I get the error code 2 (Steam is down?)? Maybe it is because I use Vista and the game does not support it? |

Hi Tapsa, I'd like there to be a function, which can extract units or other lists as text to clipboard or files. That would be practical for statistics works. |

Rise of Rajas is same with The Forgotten, so it will compatible. The dat name is Empires2_x2_p1.dat, of course you must have Rise of Rajas. |
