How to install:
Simply run the installer and select the main folder of your game's copy. To uninstall, lauch the installer again or simply go to the "uninstall a program" section of windows! The program doesn't modify any files related to the game.
This works mainly for Windows Vista and 7. I'm not sure if XP has this color issue, but the software ran pretty well on my virtual machine so it should be fine as well (sound control doesn't work though, because the systems are way too different)!
How to use:
Open the shortcut on your desktop (namely "Age of Empires 2 Fixer") and click on Open Age of Empires2 to play! That's it! The colors won't get mixed up and if you want to quit the game, you can chose to use some shortcuts to close everything ("RightShift" + "+") directly or click on Close. Now if you want to alt-tab, it will work fine as well. Although, to reopen the minized Age of Empires window, you will need to click on the Open Age of Empires2 button again (it restores the window if it's already opened, it won't start the game again) otherwise you will have color problems. You CAN click on the game directly from the taskbar, but the program needs to have the focus first!
In case you lost the main window of this application, you can always press the "-" key (can be modified) to bring it to the front.
Features:
- You can make the window stays on top of anything else
- You can save the previous sound volume from the last time you exited the program, so that you'll always have the same sound volume when playing
- You can make the alt-tab resume explorer automatically
- You can change the master volume using normal keys
- You can disable any shortcuts related to the program or re-enable them
Shortcuts:
The program offers a rather strong key remapping utility. These shortcuts won't work if the program is closed (obviously!) and they only work while the main window is activated. In that section, you can choose to deactive any available shortcuts and you're free to add your own shortcuts to the list! By default, new shortcuts only type text, but you can set an "Action Type" to the key combination. These actions allow you to custom anything you want, they include... execution of programs, assigning keys to a window (to bring it to the front!), disable annoying keys (ever pressed LaunchMail while playing?), remap keys combos for other key combos and more!
[Note:] I wasn't sure if I should have included that part since you can easily cheat, but the game already provides the "Shift" + "somehing" to add up 5 items. Still, it is a life saver for me when I play with my brother against the computer with 200 farmers and the mill getting emptied every 2 minutes!
Window commands: Well it's mostly useful to apply the window topmost flag on another process. However, I was a bit bored and I like to offer the users as many options as possible, so I decided to add all the available commands that windows can offer.
If you find any bug or if there are stuff you'd like to see added in this, just tell me! Or, simply, if you have questions, just ask! |
