Barbarian plays most maps with any civ. At 1v1 it's also possible to make Barbarian some strategies by taunts. It is able to use sling if two or more Barbarians team up.

It is able to play even most of MegaRandom maps, although some bugs may appear on very weird settings.

By taunting 222+flaring it is possible to send allied Barbarian's army to the flared position.

Map: Almost any map
Size: Any (matching to players in game)
Difficulty: Any (hard)
Starting resources: Any (low/standard)
Map reveal: Any (explored for DM)

Victory: Any (conquest/standard)

Barbarian plays only with the UserPatch 1.5 or later.

Updated to v2.15. Some taunts have changed.

I can second what II2N and scripter said :D

We have beaten 3v5 Barbarians on hard by quick rushing + tower rushing, but died 2v2 and 3v3 to Barbarians when letting the game turn into a boom war.

First of all, congratulations because you have created the best AI I have ever tried. Better than The Horde, Juggernaut and others, Barbarian is a real master-piece. I think it deserve 6 stars.

I'm writing here because I would like to contribute telling you that I have fought against it several times (hard) and I think you can improve some details in Arabian games using huns.

1) Scout patrolling bug: The scout begins to patrol through the enemy woods and it doesn't react when it is attacked. You can kill it with a single village.

2) Late forward: Sometimes it tries to make a forward after min 10:30 and once you detected and ruin his plans, it persist sending a lot of villagers to finish the failed first tower.

3) Sometimes it delay to much the loom, so is too easy to kill his villagers after min 9:00

4) It rarely performe a fast flush: It would be awesome if Barbarian could rush before min 10 clicking feudal with only 21, 22 villagers.

5)The best age it plays is imperial: The much pop it reach the better it plays. In early ages it is still weak, but in imperial it performance is amazing. I'm a 16++ and I can´t deny that I've been surprised with incredible come backs and finally die : (

1) Do you have a rec of this? There was an issue like this in 2.15, but it should be fixed in the latest version (2.15b).

2) Huns' forward strategy should be disabled in latest version since it's unoptimised. Trush shouldn't be used unless the opponent is very close. When does this issue occur? I could make Barbarian give up with trush if it seems to be failing, although in 1v1 the game is probably already lost at that point.

3) Barbarian delays loom if it thinks it can hunt boars without it. Taking loom somewhat early would provide protection against scout laming, but it'd also be a mistake in case opponent isn't going to lame villagers, since it's basically -1 villager. Since AIs are already slower than humans, they definitely want to boost their up times any way they can.

4) AIs will generally have to up slower than humans due to lack of villager micro at dark age. I've tried to improve Barbarian's villager micro but it's still far behind human abilities. Fastest Barbarian's flushes with stable economy are usually 24-25 pop, Mongol scout rush with great start reaching 22 pop with deer luring. Sometimes AI scouting is unlucky though and resources are missed, which will delay up times even further from humans. Unfortunately there isn't much to do to improve scouting.

5) Yes, lack of unit micro makes Barbarian and all AIs weak against humans early. In later game they can compensate lack of micro to some extend with their ability to multitask.

2.15b was released a few days ago, and I'm now gathering a list for the next update. It'll probably take time before I can update Barbarian next time, unless some critical bug is found that needs fixing quickly.

I didn´t realize that you have already updated it. It would be nice to have a change log to know the difference between different versions.

I have play a couple of games against 2.15b and the scout and trush bugs seems to be OK.
I like the barbarian's dark micro of villagers because it never delay up.

Why don't AIs make the most of the Scout's LOS? I mean, in early exploration they use only the half of their LOS using just the radio rather than their diameter. Why don't Ais explore with sheep?

Changelogs can be found in Barbarian's thread at, but I guess I could start posting more detailed changelogs here as well.

AI scouting is mostly automatical, so there aren't good ways to affect it. AIs also can't detect whether a certain area is scouted or not, which hinders sheep scouting (and directly commanding the scout to explore). It would be possible to send sheep to "explore" by moving around the TC though.
Zamir Barbarian regularly fails boar hunting in the latest version. It lures the boar, but then doesn't shoot it so it wanders off again.

Could you post a record of the issue? Was it SP or MP?
Zamir I played 4vs4 in SP when I noticed it. It seemed to happen every time so you should be able to reproduce it easily.

I couldn't see any issue. It would fail if Barbarian doesn't have any food-villagers to be tasked as support hunters though.

Oh, and are you using hard difficulty?
