Barbarian plays most maps with any civ. At 1v1 it's also possible to make Barbarian some strategies by taunts. It is able to use sling if two or more Barbarians team up.
It is able to play even most of MegaRandom maps, although some bugs may appear on very weird settings.
By taunting 222+flaring it is possible to send allied Barbarian's army to the flared position.
Barbarian plays with settings:
Settings: (preferred)
Game type: Any (RM, Regicide, DM, WR)
Map: Almost any map
Size: Any (matching to players in game)
Difficulty: Any (hard)
Starting resources: Any (low/standard)
Map reveal: Any (explored for DM)
Population: Any (200)
Starting Age: Any (dark, post-imperial for DM)
Victory: Any (conquest/standard)
Taunt list:

Thanks.
There is a small chance that the boar runs back, but it shouldn't happen frequently.
I'll try to fix scout's behavior issues.
Barbarian used to retreat from TC with spiral route, but it had issues getting past enemy houses. With direct retreating there are less overall casualties.
Unfortunately villager are likely to return to where they leftw hen they're forced to retreat without an attack alert. AI itself doesn't have good tools to control at which camp villagers control resources.
DUC stands for Direct Unit Commands, which allows AI to micro units accurately. It's an extremely helpful UP addition. |

Thank you for the explanation.
I think that if you could make villagers evacuate once a threat is on its LOS you would prevent a lot of casuelties, even if villagers run into its origin. |

Hi,
thanks, you're correct. Barbarian sets incorrect strategy type for fast imperial monk rush after taunt 230, which prevents it from placing required feudal age buildings. Updated to 2.16c to fix that, and there are some improvements to wonder race on top of it. Otherwise, it should be mostly the same. |

Hi there, I'm sure you already know but your AI is great and I'm really glad you constantly update it.
I have a small issue however that you may or may not be able to help me with but anything would be appreciated.
The guy who made AoC: Hegemony uses Barbarian as the main AI and I recently downloaded the new update for AoC and whenever I start a game I get this error which causes the AI to send 2 villagers to explore and 1 to chop wood indefinitely:
Player X (x= number of players in the game)
File Barbarian.per
Line 9126:ERR2005:Invalid identifier: up-update-targets
I have my AoE linked with voobly (i.e. it should have the latest UP) and I updated it to the latest 1.4 UP and I still get this error. This might sound dumb (it is) but would deleting the "up-" from the 3 instances of "up-update-targets" fix this issue or is it something that is caused by some sort of incompatibility between patches?
Thanks for any help you're able to provide. |

That sounds like you're not running the latest version of UP. I believe the command up-update-targets was added in UP 1.4 and didn't exist in 1.3. The prefix "up-" just indicates the command is UP addition.
You can always download the latest UP here:
http://userpatch.aiscripters.net/
If you'd like to use Voobly and standalone UP separately, you can hold control+alt while clicking "install". Then it'll create age2_x1.4.exe for UP 1.4, since Voobly overwrites age2_x1.exe whenever you play there. |

Thanks for the prompt reply. I've already updated to the latest UP (with the separate exe) but the issue is that the mod has its own .exe. I don't know if that exe relies at all on the 2_x1 and I've experimented a bit by renaming the 2_x1.4 to 2_x1 to no avail.
Could this possibly be an issue on the modmaker's part or should I just reinstall aoe2, reupdate it, and redownload the mod and hope this works?
Additionally, would using an older version of Barbarian (2.14 maybe) possibly fix this issue?
Thanks again for your support.

Quick follow-up. Turns out my antivirus was blocking UP from making necessary changes... Kind of annoying but everything's fine now. Thanks again for the quick reply and all the best! |
