the two first ones and the last ones are quite ugly. Some of the lines are just over the actual building parts, so it looks ugly. The 3rd one looks good therefore. Take a look at other mod packs, and take some more effort. Training makes perfect :) |

Thanks. I am quite new. This took me 45 minutes. And I don't really do this but it is kind of fun. |

The Archery Range Pack by Rageofempires replaces the feudal age versions of archery ranges of all sets except the meso-american one with custom ones he designed.
Usefulness - This mod-pack is just a Fan-Merch as the readme in the download says, but for something to be useful, it has got to be at least appealing enough to someone that he would want to download this, which, unfortunately, it isn't.
Novelty - The buildings were edited by copy-pasting in Paint. While we couldn't expect anyone to reinvent the wheel after so many years, the creativeness of the file was very low and very minor modifications were done to the buildings, hence warranting a slightly lower score.
Quality - The buildings, as stated were created using Paint, and were not very good at it. The first archery range was extremely cramped and there was no sense of perspective at all, with a door going beneath the virtual floor of the building. The second building didn't have any significant changes to it, other than the keep which overlapped the path beneath it. The third building replaced the left side of the archery range with a copy of the right side. While this was a bit better than the other ones, it was unrealistic as compared to the rests because thee were no targets for the archers to practice with. The last building was a horrible mess of parts of the original range copied irrespective of perspective or overlapping. The keep was horribly cut-off from the top too. And the first, second and fourth buildings had a bright unwanted and unrealistic outline around them.
Instructions - While almost everyone knows how to install mods using SLPs, there are some people who do not. No mention of how to install the mod was given either in the readme or in the description. All it said was to replace the given SLPs, without even mention how.
Additional Comments - This mod was an interesting approach by the author to create some different buildings using copy-pasting, which went wrong. I would advise the author to search for Age of Sherwood in the scenario design and modding section of the forum to look at what can be achieved using just Paint. |
