Vlad Dracula
Vlad Dracula
DESCRIPTION:
The 15th century was a violent time. Wars and famines were as usual as terrible
tortures. Constantinople, the last defence against Islam fell and the Ottomans
invaded Europe. On their way they fought against Serbia, Hungary and the little
kingdom of Wallachia. So it's not astonishing that such a bloody ruler reigned
during this brutal time.
In 1431 AD a son is born for the voivode (Wallachian ruler title) Vlad II and
gets the name Vlad as well. Vlad II is called Dracul, meaning "dragon"
in the Romanian language. For he is a member of the Order of the Dragon, a
secret organisation with the aim of protecting the christianity. Therefore his
son will be later called "Dracula", it means "son of the dragon".
But "Dracul" has another meaning, it's "devil"...
Dracula's childhood is hard. His father is murdered when he's 17, at the same
time his brother is blinded and buried alive. And when Dracula seizes the throne
much later he executes thousands of people, his popular method is the impaling.
This is when a dull stake is rammed into a person's backside and erected. The
stake destroys the inner organs and it takes often days until the victim dies.
It's because of this cruel punishment that Dracula was called Vlad Tepes (pronounciation:
Tsepesh), Vlad the Impaler.
One time he impales 20 000 Turkish prisoners in front of his capital and calls
it sarcastically "the impaled forest". When the Turkish sultan watches
this scene, he and his army turn around, in spite of a 3:1 advantage...
This scenario is an RPS game about the turbulent life of Vlad Dracula. There are
three possible outcomings, Dracula becomes a vampire in one of them.
I created this scenario originally in German. That's a translation (the sound
and trigger names are still German). So I apologize for all the mistakes that
surely have occured. You can find the original version at www.agearena.de

Well, Rangar, it is about Janos Hunyadi (the Hungarian name), but, even it seems strange, he was a small Romanian noble from Tansylvania (Ioan Corvin in Romanian), who was able to promote thanks to his military skills. Both Ioan Corvin and Vlad Tepes leaved in the same century, ruling two neghbor countries, Transylvania and Wallachia (both of them parts of Romania now). More, the son of Ioan Corvin, Matthias, imprisoned Vlad for 10 years. But I'm already off-topic, sorry.
Coming back: the only problems of this scenario are: a too small map for such great number of events; seven missions in a single scenario is a great work. The author knows very good the history of Vlad Tepes.
If you play this scenario for the second or third time, you might leave the prisoners alive until the Turkis army will announce they come to destroy Fagaras. Despite the small population limit, the attack can be repelled (I did it, hard level, without cheats). Vlad's assasination will not be necessary. |

How do I find the treasure? I found the birds' nest and brought a villager and a petard to it. What now? Overall, a great scenario. Keep up the fantastic work![Edited on 01/05/07 @ 02:57 AM]

You do not need the villager and the petard before you find the treasure. The bird's nest is the start, for the rest of the path you have to bring the way description into the right order. You find it scrolling down the objectives. The treasure gives you gold to build up an army, which is helpful in case the next part of the scenario becomes too difficult. ;) |

This is a marvellous campaign! Truly one of the gems at the blacksmith. I've played once (on hard difficulty) but sadly I ended up getting Dracula assassinated when I wanted him to become a vampire. I'll keep trying to see how to get the other endings. |

Oh please if anyone is still playing this game, tell me how Dracula becomes a vampire!! I've tried:
>escaping and getting him assassinated and I'm sure this isn't the one where he becomes a vampire.
>Defeating Mehmet II's army... somehow there is a bug and after I defeat Mehmet's army, Dracula says 'Mehmet shall not stand in my way' and I suddenly lose the game cause I've no units left, they're all converted.
>Defeating Radu's army, it's rather easy really but it simply ends as 'The End'.
Was I not supposed to get the sword of Attila? |

You need the Judas Bible as well as the sword. |
