"Kyoto" is Biro's entry to this year's ES Scenario Remake Contest. This review covers the latest submission (before 10/30/2012). At present, I can't complete the scenario since there are bugs that prevent me in doing so. I will update this review as soon as Biro update his file accordingly.
Buggy, but playable. The scenario when it was originally submitted, has bugs that would have been avoided if the author has playtested the file. In it's present form, these bugs lower this scenario's game play points.
The scenario itself is RPG, so there were no difficult spots. Some vagueness in instructions, coupled with bugs, tend to make things too easy and confusing.
There are a number of neat tricks employed that enhance game play. Most involve good use of triggers and map eye-candies. I find the choice of music okay, and in one occasion, it made me laugh. "Though shall not pass!", just saying. :)
Map Design: 4+
Evidently the best aspect of this scenario. Good terrain mixing and town layout and lavish eye-candies lend credibility to the plot.
There were bits and pieces missing, some weird/ inappropriate remarks by characters, but generally, passable.
All of the "misses" I have pointed out (specifics found on my previous comments) can be updated and or changed. If done, this scenario would definitely receive better scores. I would have waited for Biro to update, but sadly, real life may intrude in the coming weeks, so I'd rather review it now and update later, when Biro finds the time to update his submission.
