The Battle For Middle Earth

Author File Description
File Details
Version: The Conquerors 1.0c
Style: Build and Destroy
Number of players: 8
This scenario is inspired by The Lord of the Rings. I have tried to reproduce Middle Earth most exactly possible. It is a multiplayer scenario, but you can play it alone.
You must respect some rules :

- Resources : Standard / Population : 200 / Map : Explored / Starting age : Standard / Victory : Conquest / Fix teams / Lock speed.
- see the scenario for civs, teams & colours (I have selected Indifferent in players options).

Respect it, or this scenario has no interest !

You can play it with 2/4/6/8 players, but it is better with 8 of course (all factions are represented).
Each player starts at least with one castle and one center. Each player has one hero.
Nobody can go from Imperial age. Nobody can build castles.

It is more difficult to play with the Good than with the Evil (it is logical), but only the best team will win.

In bonus 4 musics of the trilogy : copy them in SOUND/scenario.

Have fun !

Playability: 3
The map was playable, but the main problem with the scenario was that everything was a bit too small. If you would've chosen a specific region instead of all of Middle Earth. Considering the proportions everything was put in, I would recommend you re-do this scenario with only doing South-Eriador(Rohan-Gondor-Mordor-Near Harad) instead of adding in the whole of Eriador.

Balance: 3
The evil teams were superior in almost every way. They had large room to expand on *cough*large desert*cough* and was tactically placed much better than the good team. I think you should drastically nerf the evil by, for example, limiting mordor's access to ships and harad's acess to siege weapons and so on.

Creativity: 3
The scenario was almost just copy-pasted from the "Third Age Total War" mod for Medieval II: Total War. I think you should have done your own twist of it, and maybe blended the TATW scenery with some Middle-Earth maps.

Map Design: 4---
This is an incredibly vague rating. The scenario design was good, as in, it was better than a random map and it is following today's standards of newbie design. Some parts like, Mirkwood would've pulled you down on a 3 but I decided to be good since you have some parts that I liked.

Story/Instructions: 1
There were none. I honestly believe you could've added in much much lore here. Either if you quote the books, copy-pase from the LOTR:Wikia or write it yourself.

Additional Comments: I would say, regulate your choice of editing. This would open room for you and let you concentrate on being a bit more precise with your placement of cities, castle etc etc.
