How far were you from completion before you ran out of time?

A very nice map, even though it has a lot more nature than towns! I particularly liked the design of the sand dunes: simple yet effectful.

This is as far as I got unfortunately.
Yeah that was the plan, less towns more map design. Though the largest town was to go in the left hand side. As for the sand dunes, there's not enough scens out there with a desert theme. It can look good with the right terrain mixing.

This showcase scenario is Dark_Reign’s incomplete entry to the 2013 Pretty Town Contest. As it remains unfinished it was never submitted to the contest, yet Dark_Reign uploaded the unfinished work to the blacksmith separately to showcase what he had started.
The scenario is well designed and shows off Dark_Reigns skills as an accomplished designer. The map design is very simple yet very effective and showcases a very careful and thoughtful designing technique. As and intended entry to a Pretty Town contest the author decided to focus more on the natural landscape around the town than the town itself. All the was completed of the town were two smaller settlements to the west of the map whilst the main larger town was intended for a gap in between these two settlements. The towns that have been started are laid out well with careful consideration to the placement of walls and buildings to make them look beautiful yet realistic as a town would. The natural portions of the map are where the design really stands out. The map takes a desert theme, a particularly difficult style of map to the design due the to limited terrains and objects that fit in with that style. The real highlight of this design is the simple sand dunes which cover about half of the map. They are simple in design using dirt and desert blended terrain and high elevation and yet they look realistic and pleasing to the eye. Like in a normal desert you would not expect it to be full of random object and eye candy, just sand, sand and more sand. Other areas of the map are also well designed with nice use of terrain mixing nice eye candy and beautiful aesthetics. Overall the completed areas of the map are very well designed albeit due to the incompleteness of the scenario is can come off as quite bland over air of the map where the intended design was never made.
Overal this is well designed showcase scenario and could have had the potential to be a high level contender in the competition if completed in time.
