It is 1525, and the Italian peninsula is the raging battlefield of the Italian Wars. These wars are fought over bitterly between the Austrian, or Holy Roman Empire, and France. Both sides claim dominion of several Italian states, and are willing to fight over them.
The Holy Roman Empire allying itself with Spain has prompted France to capture Milan, the wealthiest Italian State. With the new financial backing of Milan on his side, the Frankish Sovereign, King Francis I, has rebuilt his army and is preparing to capture the last remaining stand of Imperial Resistance, Pavia.
But hope is not lost for the Imperialised Pavia, for as Francis I approaches Pavia, General Charles de'Lannoy also marches towards the Imperial City. At Mirabello Manor, Francis and Charles meet, for one final encounter.
I have tried to complete it quickly, it took me about four hours to make. So please point out any mistakes I have made. Thank You and Enjoy!!
I found the scenario a bit too long/drawn out for my liking, you need to more actively engage the player, otherwise it just becomes another boring cliche ('destroy building X'). I think working more on the story would benefit this.
The maps balancing was a little on the easy side, although this is subject to different players skill levels.
I thought the map was fairly creative, the implementation of the Spanish and unit buying was good, however it did not break any new ground in other areas.
Map Design: 4-
The map was well designed but fell short in some areas, the thickness of the road in places was unappealing and mountains and elevation could have been used more widely. The town design was average however I liked the way towers and walls were used.
This was where the scenario was most lacking, at the beginning I felt overwhelmed due to the attack and large amount of objectives. The way the story is presented via the scout menu isn't the best way it could have been done, and the lack of in-game dialogue or cut-scenes also takes away from the score. In some instances I was left unsure of the significance of the some things, for example what is supposed to be done with the true cross, Why use it instead of a relic?
Overall this was an average map, that with a little polishing could become good (some time investment and triggering knowledge).
