The Year is 517 AD and a peaceful day in Egyptian territory is turned into a massacare. A Persian raiding party tumbles upon a Egyptian Oasis Settlement and the Persian Raid Leader decides to crush that Settlement and enslave it's population.
You the Player will be defending the Settlement from the Persians attack! The Battle starts from the very first second so be prepared to take action and rally your troops to defend.
1)Reveal Map - Normal
2)Lock Teams - Enabled
3)Civilizations - Player 1 - Saracens, Player 2 (Computer) - Persians
4)Victory Settings - Conquest
5)Difficulty - Atleast Standard, higher difficulties are more challenging and more fun in my opinion.
6)This map requires UserPatch to be played!
1)Withstand the attack for 20 minutes to win!
2)Defend the Settlement's Defensive Towers, if all of them should fall then you lose.
1)The Watchman from the Tower saw the raiding party on time to command all woman and children to the Defensive Towers. He also made sure that all men who were able to carry a sword, shoot an arrow or ride a camel were ordered to the Barracks, Archery and Stable, so they would arm themselves and be ready to fight. - You have 3 spawns what give you units from those buildings.
2)Don't ungarrison the Villagers from the Towers, they are more effective inside.
3)You hava Shaman (Monk), HEAL your units constantly and convert enemy units.
4)Try to use chokepoints to your advantages!!
"A Battle for an Oasis" is a simple DtS for the 2013 DtS contest. There isn't much in the way of story or a theme here.
Its intense enough for several scenarios and gives a major battle. However the gameplay has not been carefully crafted at all and simply is a vast horde of enemies relentlessly pushing forward.
I tried it on easiest and hardest, and it seemed little different. I doubt this author even playested this, and I don't think victory is possible unless there are some exploits to use. (Leading enemy troops in circles with camels?) The enemy simply pressed forward with hundreds or even thousands of soldiers, so many they cannot get through each other clumped up at the front of your base. This kind of force will wear down most any defence given time. Especially their ranged attack waves, which can reach over your walls and mow down your men easily.
Its a basic try at a DtS with the enemy coming in waves with a boss at times.
Map Design 2
The map looks fairly nice, being a simple desert oasis with some detailing work. The dirt1 roads look quite splotchy and should be smoothed out.
Its the bare minimum to inform the player about the scenario and is very little at that.
