Fixed Force |
Midsummer, year 1309 of the Second Era.
Samhain Seonid lays siege to the walled city of Havern. Soon, it will fall, and the last bastion of rebel defiance with it. Finally, after years of war and rebellion, there will be peace.
But in the nearby mountains, a sinister figure plots the overthrow of peace, stability, and above all, Seonid himself...
-----------------------------
Deliverance is a fixed-force Defend the Spot-type scenario, created for the 2013 Defend the Spot Competition. You play first as Verwyn Benecki, Seonid's right-hand man, and then as the great general himself, as you cover the retreat of your army to a defensible location, and then attempt to hold that spot against a vastly superior enemy force.
The scenario is difficulty-level dynamic, and includes a 5-minute introductory cutscene (complete with the option to skip it, if you like).
It also comes with a modded interface.drs file (as modded data files were disallowed for the competition), which changes the face of one of the minor heroes to the Joan of Arc face. Without it, you will have a female character with a decidedly male icon (El Cid's, to be exact). If you're okay with that, though, you may feel free to skip replacing the interface file.
I hope you enjoy the scenario!

I honestly think "DELIVERANCE" would have been the best choice for the Defend-the-Spot competition, if only Seonid nailed the lag and balance issues.
Playability: 4
As I have said in my opening statement, this scenario could have taken the bacon if Seonid nailed the lag and balance issues. I'm on an i7 with dedicated graphics, but the amount of units just were quite a lot to handle. Playability suffered much because of this.
Balance: 3
Always the tricky part, Balance needs more improvement. Even when playing Medium difficulty, I had a hard-time defeating the hordes, especially on the later part of the game.
Creativity: 5
A full, solid 5. The scenario designer had dedicated a lot of time and effort in making this scenario, which showed a lot on the final product.
Map Design: 3
Map design is functional, but needs more terrain-mixing.
Story/Instructions: 5
The story itself is flawless, and exudes great realism and fun.
Additional Comments:
Thanks for a story-driven scenario. Totally worth the time.[Edited on 02/20/14 @ 01:45 PM]
