A tricky and challenging RPG, filled with neat tricks, eye candy and an intense gameplay. It takes place in 30x30 map packed with a lot of action and almost 1h of gameplay!
It all began at a misty morning...
You were fishing in the lake as always... Living the same boring life. After two hours trying to catch a single fish for the dinner, you suddenly find an old map, and under its backside it was written:
"My dear captain, I've buried our most valuable treasure inside our new hideout. I've had the care to build it underwater, this way no one will ever be able to steal it...."
"The hideout contains 30 tonnes of gold, which I've locked in the most well guarded room I could afford, if you want to visit there, for whatever reason it may be, just follow the red X signal that I've drawn in the very bottom of this lake of the poor western burg from Land of Misery, known as Poorburg. The stupid people from there will never suspect anything."
You've taken the map for yourself and told your woman about it...
She said that you were crazy, but you ignored her, just like you always did.
A few days after, with all your hard earned economies, you went to the only store from Poorburg. You saw the cheapest armor from there and bought it. Then, you returned home and made the last preparatives...
After diving deeply into the lake, you spotted a hole, marked with a big red X. You entered inside of it, before starting to lose your breath... It was strange, there was no water inside it... Only a strange gloomy residue along the way... Almost like it was something comin directly from a ghost story. Since you didn't believe in ghosts anyway, you've just ignored that. Now you're inside the cavern.
A non-sensical (or not...) story that doesn't takes itself too seriously.
Many complex trigger and AI tricks in this scenario, in order for your experience to be as unique and crazy as possible (without modding).
Almost 1 hour of gameplay.
Four interesting side-quests.
Well writen hints/scout/etc, explaining everything you have to do.
A spooky atmosphere.
A rewarding leveling system - with perks for every level earned.
Chests, gear and much more!
Very good soundtrack.
A weird quiz and many other bizarre but funny tasks.
An extremely challenging gameplay (in hard difficulty, of course).
A lot of eye-candy.
301 triggers (it's so much for a 30x30 map :p).
Put the Campaign's folder content in your AOK campaign directory.
Put the Sound's folder content in your AOK sounds/scenario directory.

I really enjoyed playing this. At no part was I bored. I was constantly kept on my toes with this RPG. This is probably one of my favorite RPGs that I've played.
The overall balance was good. There was a good mix of easy parts and hard parts to keep the player entertained and on his or her toes. Cavern Pirates requires tons of microing and using elevation to your advantage, not microning enough is costly. The hardest difficulty is extremely hard. I couldn't even get past the first opening minutes, I can't imagine what the rest of the scenario is like on hard. Even the most seasoned AoK veteran would struggle with hardest. Double thumbs up to whoever beats Cavern Pirates on hard.
Creativity was excellent. The wide variety of eye candy, the design tricks, the 1 on 1 boss fights, leveling up, and earning special powers, and taunt based triggers earns this category a perfect score.
Map Design: 5
Map design was excellent. Very good terrain mixing, and lots of creative uses of eye candy. The whole map was very pleasing to look at. I'm surprised at how well the author was able to use the Arrow objects; in ways I would have never though of. The trigger usage was phenomenal for a 30x30 map, the map design shows how much work was put into the scenario.
The story fits nicely with the overall scenario. You play as a greedy man who explores a lost cavern in search of gold. You battle your way through the Captains ghostly crew in search of the treasure. Although there was many grammatical errors, as the authors first language isn't English, you are still able to understand the dialogue.
Additional Comments: An excellent scenario with excellent map design. I highly recommend a download.
Many thanks for the review, Reganknight, glad you've liked it so much!
Thought I've already won the hardest difficulty... twice :D
Past of the begging it's not so hard, the enemies just have more status and the boss ship fires cannon balls, arrows, galleon arrows and trebuchet missles.
