In this scenario the player is given a light cavalry unit with which he/she is to traverse a maze-like racecourse while competing against an identical unit. I found this to be an unexciting task. The player is given almost no time to prepare and as the race consists of two identical units starting a fraction of second too late will automatically lead to a failure of the overall objective.
As mentioned previously, the player is expected to participate in a race against a unit with the exact same speed as his own cavalry, making the start of the race extremely important. Sadly enough this is the only challenging aspect of the scenario. The finish of the course is placed near the start, so players can eventually just command the unit to go there, removing any further action from the scenario.
The used concept is far from new and not particularly creative. Aside from the race the scenario contained no additional objectives or possibilities.
MAP DESIGN: 1
The design of the racecourse is very simple and, quite frankly, bland. There were some villagers placed as spectators, but these did little to spruce up the overall map.
The player was given no information on the speed at which the map was supposed to be played. Some instructions on the race were present, but not to an extent you would expect. The scenario contained no storyline whatsoever.
"The Racing Horse" is a minigame-ish scenario in which the player races against an identical unit. It is severely lacking in all categories and by no means a recommended download.
