~Troy~ review by Magnum Zero

Troy is a campaign based on the extraordinary movie & Greek legend, Troy. Sadly, as you will find later, it doesn’t do the story justice. You control both sides of the story. (Sometimes you’re Paris, sometimes your Agamemnon.)

Playability: 2
I didn’t enjoy this campaign. While it wasn’t the worst one I’ve ever played, it certainly was not the best. I hate giving bad reviews, but sometimes campaigns call for one. While it was a good idea of switching off perspectives of the story, it didn’t save this campaign. There were too many signs that this campaign was “slapped together.” There were squares in display instructions, there was dialogue that went and then left after 1 second, making it un-readable. While playing in the first scenario, I had to get within one tile of the guards for them to attack me. This campaign was only slightly amusing. At least there was no lag in this campaign.

Positive points
+No lag

Negative points
-Annoying dialogue
-Irresponsive soldiers
-Boring
-Other minute issues

Balance: 1
The balance was not good. This campaign was too easy. Paris had plenty of HP and attack that would kill in one hit. This campaign was poorly balanced. Need I say more?

Positive points
None

Negative points
-Too easy
-Pumped up heroes

Creativity: 2
I didn’t see anything in this campaign that struck me as creative. I guess the maze to get to Odysseus was slightly creative.

Positive points
None

Negative Points
-Not creative

Map Design: 2
There were areas of just grass or just dirt2. Some Gaia objects were used. The cities were empty and there were hordes of soldiers standing in a bunch. There was bad terrain blending and there were no seamless transitions. However, the map design showed some effort, and it was ok in some parts.

Positive points
+Ok in some parts
+Showed some effort

Negative points
-Plain
-Didn’t transition well
-No mixing

Story/Instructions: 3.5
There was some background on the Troy legend. There were adequate instructions. However, sometimes an objective would be crossed off before I even did it. Therefore, at times I had nothing to do (well, I really did, but the instructions didn’t say so). Capitalization and grammar errors were prospering in this campaign, however.

Positive points
+Good BMP
+Good Background information
+Decent instructions

Negative Points
-Capitalization errors
-Grammar errors
-Objective “hiccups”

In closing, I don’t recommend downloading this campaign. The author could vastly improve upon this campaign if he wanted to.
