Campidoctoris This AI is quite good for a new AI. In one of my tests it has defeated The Dragon, a classical AI which is very good considering it's quite old.

A thing to improve is that you just send for food your first eight villagers, which is aceptable but risky, more with Aztecs. IMHO your first woodcutter should be the 10th villaber, otherwise, if you are not very lucky with sheep, etc, you'll find a litte idle time in your town center.

Apart from that it's just experience. Test your AI against powerful ones to get strategical ideas and optimize your build order and gatherer percentages.

Thank you for the suggestion. Just a quick comment about the AIs age, I typed it up back in 2007/2008 if I recall correctly. It's ancient to me and the script looks pretty foreign but I'll give your suggestion a try.
Campidoctoris Ok, I'll hav to mention them a few changes in the scripting world happened in the last 4 years.

There is an unofficial patch, called UserPatch, UP or patch 1.4 which resolves a few bugs in th game and allows several improvements to AIs. For example:
- AIs can hunt boars, improving their economy a lot.
- AIs units perform much better in battle.
- AIs can build more than a single building of the same type at once. It also improves economy because they needn't to finish a farm to start the next one.
- etc

So currently, the Ladder, the unofficial world AI tournament, is developed with AIs adapted for the UP. Yu can participate with an AI without UP, but it will be too handicaped.

Although if you prefer to keep your AI 1.c, because there are human players which prefer it, even if UP only requires 1-2 seconds to be installed/uninstalled. Or any other reason, you could use 1.c AIs to test your own and learn from them. The link of the old 1.c AI tournament is here:

Also remember that 1.c AIs work with UP, but most UP AIs can't work without UserPatch.

I know all about UP release ;) . I've been a member at aiscripters.com since, 2004? Lately, I've been working on my SWGB ais and that was one of the reasons I uploaded this to the blacksmith. It was one of my more stronger AI for aok. It definitely needs some improvement. I looked at the script a bit today and made changes to the attack groups, some settings for siege unit conditions and such. I probably won't be releasing any updates for weeks or months. I'm gone for 12 hours a day and helping to create an AI for a large SWGB mod.
