It is totally destroyed, you set out to seek revenge. I hope you enjoy, send comments, complaints, or errors in the scenario to email@example.com. Note: It was ment to be played with the patch, which is availible from the downloads section here on AoK Heaven.
Forgot to metion, but this is not complete(very close though) Any bugs e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org

The Prince of Darkness is a single scenario. It is meant to be played with original AoK and the patch 2a.
The story is fiction. You play King Arthur and your kingdom benefited from a 10 year period of peace with its neighbours until the Black Prince attacks with a far superior army. In this hopeless situation you try to escape in a barrel on a cart, while your castle and town are totally destroyed.
PLAYABILITY: The author mentions on his description page that the scenario is not complete; and it could be fun playing, if there would not be so many bugs. It is not an exaggeration to write, that most of the story does not work like intended. Depending on the difficulty levels, the fighting took place before you reach the locations and many times the Black Prince is defeated without the player interfering in the fights. Other than using Marco Polo I had no chance to click and talk with the peasants. On the higher levels they get destroyed early or the Black Prince attacks the town of Guy Josselyne, leaving the shelter of his towers and dies, so that the path by the village is not needed. 2
-Apart from the wrong AI, you got a problem with diplomacy. The Black Prince has to be neutral to the peasants.
BALANCE: The scenario is short and I played all difficulty levels. Due to the bugs, the battles on the higher difficulty levels take place without you and the impressive army of Kushluk vanishes most of the times before you reach him. The main enemy, the Black Prince leaves early his well defended castle and does not provide much challenge. On hard the enemy of the other side of the river passes by you to attack Richard. 2
- Make the Black Prince’s army in the wood only enemy with Arthur.
CREATIVITY: The best part of the scenario. The start is original and has some nice trigger effects. I liked the development of the story and the ending is creative, even though it does not work. 3
MAP DESIGN: The map is mostly wood done with a big brush. A small path leads through the forest but the allied towns along the way are nicely done and the scenario deserves an overall average rating for the map. 3
- Some more Gaia, elevations, smaller brush seize, different trees and openings in the wood could help.
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: Objectives and hints are sufficient and the author provides a BMP. There is not much of a story, Arthur looses his kingdom and seeks revenge against the Black Prince with the main objective: “Kill the Black Prince”. 3
- Give a fictional history; explain why Arthur’s allies are enemies with each other.
OVERALL: If you are interested to study bug behaviour, this is a good object.
FINAL OBSERVATION: This review is an edit from an earlier version and the overall rating was slightly increased.
