Version: Age of Kings
The Byzantines have wiped out your friends town, and you must get revenge. You are the britons, and must break through the Byzantines defense.

skald I was not able to finish this scenario but I will post the general order of battle and rules of engagement for more experienced players who might find it of interest.

I played on Moderate, equivalent to Medium. Player 1 is Briton, in the Dark Age, on a Southern island. There is some trigger work in the intro, brief dialog and some action rescuing some villes who later work for you. You start with a Bishop and 3 hand cannoneers; I found them quite useful for scouring the island for wolves and softening up wild boars to prep them for the Village Luau.

Your opponent starts slightly ahead in the Northern island, with walls and towers already in place, and galleons already commissioned. At about one hour, he started building a wonder. At one hour and ten seconds, I decided I would be hard pressed to defend my own docks from his galleon attack, much less mount an offensive to take out his wonder, so I resigned.

Without having finished this mission I will not comment or attempt to rate the author's work. Hopefully my synopsis will help other players to decide if they are up to the challenge. I am sure many will be.

Its hard to find much to say about ByzvsBrt. Really its just a random map with a slightly customized start.

Playability 2

Its a random map, and about as playable as one. Unfortunately you cannot attack the enemy early, so expect a long buildup.

Balance 2

Its not inbalanced. The enemy fortress shouldnt provide more than a speed bump for anyone that could win a normal islands random game against the AI.

Creativity 1

No real attempt was made to differentiate itself from a random map. The only two changes are that you dont start with a TC, and that the AI has a bombard tower+walls fortress, when i believe the AI doesnt make walls on islands, so theres that.

Map Design 2

Its a random map, Islands.

Story\Objectives 2

Its the most bare minimum sufficient to avoid being rated a 1. There really isnt a story to be honest, but thats how the review guidelines call it.

Final thoughts: Play an actual random map instead, then you can customize the settings atleast.
