I’m not the greatest fan of graphics converted from other games because I feel as though a lot of them don’t fit in well with the original graphics of AOK. However, there are one or two exceptions to this and I believe that this is one of them. Whilst it’s not perfect it is a good unit that has some decent uses.
This unit, converted from the game Atlantica Online by Peter88, is a Sabretooth Tiger which can be used in various prehistoric and early history scenarios. Whilst a medieval game such as AOK isn’t the best place for prehistoric scenarios there are a number of scenario made in these settings. Al_Kharn the Great’s The Last Neanderthal for a start springs to mind. This unit would made a great addition to those scenarios to add a greater sense of realism and eye-candy to those prehistoric settings. This unit can either be used an additional predator unit or even a player control animal like the hunting wolf.
As I stated previously, many graphics converted from other games don’t fit in well the rest of the graphics in the AOK editor, however I believe this is a rare exception. I’m not sure whether it because this is an animal or because the game is is extracted from is much less cartoonish than most others such as CIV3. The animal blends in nicely with the terrain and other eye candy in the editor, particularly ice and snow, and the animations are all nice and smooth. As an added bonus an nice custom icon has been included in the upload.
Overall this is a nice little unit and a great addition to the editor. One of the better conversions from other games that I have seen.
