So it has been a long time since the last upload here. I wish I could have upload more, but for reasons I hesitate every time I wanted to...ahh, no more rambling, let's get to the topic.
Here is a Spartan warrior, similar to the design in the 300 movie. Actually, I wanted to make this unit very long ago, just after I went watched that movie. I started with a male villager and drew red capes on his back, but there was just too much frames to work on, so I gave up. And after a few years I went back to the modding threads and saw a request for one. Well, now that I can make it in 3D, so why not?
As usual, this pack includes the slp files and an icon. 25 frames for decay sequence and 50 frames for the others.
Usually I would say "don't forget the credits if you wanna use this". But recently I've been criticized for being unwilling to share, ungrateful, and prideful... So, here's the deal, credits are still very appreciated, but if you just want to share happiness...
The Spartan Warrior by Achesun is a new unit which adds a Spartan hoplite into the game, based of the soldiers from the film 300.
Usefulness/Novelty: 5
This Spartan hoplite is an extremely useful and novel addition to the scenario editor. Whilst there are many hoplite units available, none of them accurately represent Spartan warriors as many people perceive them from the film. Most of them are actually based of Roman soldiers. Achesun states above that the reason he made this unit is due to a request for one from a fellow forummer. That forummer was me. I had been searching the blacksmith for years for a Spartan unit and couldn’t find one anywhere. Eventually I resulted to requesting one and Achesun was there to deliver, so this unit certainly is a unique and novel addition. The unit itself is quite useful because there have been a number of scenarios based on the Battle of Thermopylae and the film 300 so this unit would made those scenario feel more authentic. The unit can also be used in any other ancient/antiquity based scenarios as an additional unit.
Quality/Instructions: 5
The unit is made through 3D modelling and is of exquisite quality. The graphics blend in well with the rest of the in-game units and look really realistic. The animations are also very smooth. The unit comes with player colour on the cape and belt, which makes it very easy to see which team it belongs to as well as a custom icon. Achesun has given some instructions on the frame count of each SLP to help us easily incorporate the unit into the game. The frame count is the standard for most units (50 frames per SLP except Decay which is 25) which also makes it easy to swap it with something else.
Additional Comments:
Overall a fantastic unit which I have been waiting years for. Thank you Achesun for answering my request.
