The scenario is about the siege of Constantinople in 904-907 AD by Russian prince Oleg and his Viking allies and it is quite historically accurate.

"The Siege of Constantinople 904-907 AD" covers the popular topic of depicting a great siege by an invading force;this time around its the vikings coming across the black sea eager for their chance at glory. Note that the scenario can only be played from within the scenario editor.


Playability 2

The gameplay is basically a B&D on a random map, a modified Baltic or Mediterranean. With the limiting 75 pop limit from AoK the AI is crippled being pop capped by its defending army and cant do much, while the human knows how to handle this pop limit restriction and can build around it. You get an AI ally to help out as well. Winning the game requires taking the relics from the byzantines, but by the time you reach them the city core is destroyed and it might as well be conquest.

Balance 2

The game is pretty much a cakewalk, but not broken enough to warrant the minimum score. The main difficulty is having vikings against byzantines, and the difficulty of moving trebs into position along the narrow coastlines.

Creativity 1

The idea of having to reclaim the relics is good, but there is no execution beyond that and its no different than a random map with cramping forests, low population limits and a big ole city for the AI.

Map Design 2

Its a modified random map, mostly changed for the worse large swathes of random forest filling much of the map. with The great city has no real eyecandy or anything nice about it.

Story\Objectives 2

Its very simplistic with some instructions to get the relics and a little bit of backstory, but its not much. A 2 almost seems generous but ill give it a pass.

Final thoughts:Not much to see here.
