Version: Age of Kings
During this time period, several tribes were vying for control of Scotland. In this scenario, you play the Scots who are faced with pressures from every side in the form of the Britons and Anglo-Saxons to the south, the Picts to the east, and the Vikings to the north. You must defeat them all to take control o Scotland.

History:
After the withdrawal of the Romans, Scotland consisted of two kingdoms, the Britons to the South and the Picts in the North. A few centuries later, th Scots emigrated from Ireland and settled in Argyll, in Western Scotland. During
the fifth century, the Angles began moving from their base in Northern England and settled on Scotland's southeastern seaboard as far north as present day Edinburgh. This northern expansion was checked at the battle of Nechtansmere in Angus in 685 AD, when the Pictish King Brude defeated the Angles. This shifted the power base of the Anglo-Saxons south to the Thames, so the mysterious Picts altered the course of English history more profoundly than is generally realized.

Yet another force was at work shaping Scotland at the time. The ravages of the Vikings troubled both the Picts and the Scots. The Picts were so weakened by Viking raids that Kenneth MacAlpin, King of Scots, was able to extend his
kingdom north and east. He was crowned King of the Scots and Picts in 844AD. After allying with the Britons, the Scots took complete control of the country when King Malcolm I defeated the Northumbrians (Anglo-Saxons) at the battle of Carham in 1025, creating the Scotland that we know today.

A nicely designed map of Scotland and a good History is about the most kudos I can give this essentially Random Map scenario. It really gives nothing more than I could get from the RM generator supplied by AOK. I play test all scenarios on “moderate” and as we all know it is just a matter of time before you beat 4-5 comp opponents on this setting. I assume if you played it at the highest difficulty it may be a real challenge but then so are RM games.
