Cherub Ilya Here's another one of those up-and-coming scenario designs. The game was a bit of fun! It was perhaps a notch above just playing a random game -- a tiny bit of story, one or two triggers: a great early scenario by a budding designer.

The map was interesting, and perhaps even plausible, with resources scattered about in islands with a bit of functional specialization.

The 'other pirates' player resigned several minutes into the game, which was distracting. What _were_ they there for? Or were they the ones that attacked ME early on?

No real rationale given for why you, as the player, are the turks, and no notes were given about why certain units were available and others weren't.

Strategy was not a great challenge, but the enemy didn't just roll over and play dead either, so it was a bit of fun. I might even play it again!

The romans probably should have tried to get to the next age also -- in the beginning their boats were a bit of a challenge, especially when they came at me in numbers! But after getting a couple of ages under my belt the enemy fleets were just pushovers.

All in all, maybe a tad on the too easy side, but certainly promising.

This submission was only the first scenario of Pirates, updated now with the three-scenario campaign, which was part of the 'Microsoft vs. Netscape' .zip file. With regard to the last comment, which was for the first scenario, there were 16 triggers not one or two, the 'other pirates' players resigned, first the 'pirate supply' because their trade carts changed ownership to player 1 and after about 13 minutes the 'Persian Pirates' because the player defeats them. They attacked with the units of five transports and had no other units on the map. To answer the question, "What were they there for?" They were there to attack. The real rationale why you are the Turks is that they were the hostile neighbours in the east of the Roman Empire; the Turks actually defeated the Eastern Roman Empire, they were the ones that conquered Constantinople. ;)
