Arrows of Death

Author File Description
File Details
Version: Age of Kings 1.0
This is more like a scenario, but is a saved game because the attack and ranged values could only be changed inside the game. This game is saved after less than one minute into the game. All seven other players are allied together against you at the hardest level of difficulty......Your advantage is that you have longbowmen with 7000 attack points,200 range, balistics, and spies researched. In other words you can shoot arrows completley across the map! To install extract zip file into Age 2 Saved game folder, and then play as a saved game.

PuzzleMan Talk about different. What a hoot! Great job. Not in the normal AoK tradition but an instant classic in my book.
the great Alexander That's a really interesting scenario.
May I ask how you made it ? I don't know any cheatcodes for AoK that can imprive the range or attack damage from archers, and also no other way to do that.
Teuchter Wierd and wonderful!
This is actually a very easy scenario but is also a fascinating example of what could be done if the AoK parameters could be altered at will.
A must for downloading.
--HelpmeDude-- Strangely, I can't open the zip with winzip 7.0 What's wrong?

Thisnameworked2 How did you DO that?
David Well, what can I say about this scenario. It's not a hard scenario, not hard at all, but I still finds it incredibly amusing. The auther has used some tool to change the units stats, so your army of 29 longbowmen is actually very strong! A bit too strong perhaps. Finishing of the computer player was easy. Some steps have been taken to make it more difficult though. It's you against seven computer opponents, and the difficulty setting is hard.

As I've already said, I found it extremely amusing. I think I could play this once a day if nobody stopped me, but unfortunatly I got other things to do too. It's just so funny to see that single longbowman take down an enemy castle from the other side of the map. The arrows actually remind me of tomahawks. You shoot, then you don't see the arrow until it after 20 seconds crushs the computer players town.

But, because of your incredible strength, it's also very easy. I think even the newest newbie could win in this one. The author could have given the longbowmen 1000 in strength or something. That way, buildings won't get destroyed with one arrow. The hardest bit is killing all those villagers. Because of their movement, it's really hard to hit them. I had to walk around between the bases to get near enough to kill them.

The creativity was a bit hard to judge. The auther has done something that never has been done before, but it's still the same kill'em all type of scenario.

The author hasn't done anything special in map design. It's a black forest map, randomly generated. However, I can understand this. It overall seems like this is just an example to show that it can be done.

And last, the story instructions. Because this is a saved game, you don't get to a screen showing you the objectives and hints. Instead, your only way to find out about the objectives, and also to read the hints, is to click on the objectives button while playing. While most players knows this, there might be someone who doesn't, so it would be better if a readme file was included to either tell the player to click on that button, or to tell you the objectives. Also, because of not be able to have a starting screen, a bitmap can't exist either.

This may not get the highest rating, but it's still a great scenario. The biggest issue is to correct the balance a bit more. But, as I said before, this might just be an example of what you can do. And if it is, maybe the author will release something more scenario-looking in the future. I know that the story instructions can never get better, but both the balance and map design can. And it wouldn't be to hard for the author to do it either. Also, include a nice story with different objectives, and it would be a five in creativity.
War_SythVic279 Dude that is SWEET! How do you do that? PLEASE TELL ME!
