You assume the role of Subotai, a wealthy fishing merchant and Governor of Hakido (a prosperous fishing village). Due to your increasing wealth and popularity with all of the people of the surrounding towns, Kitabatake (a rival Governor) seeks to destroy your village by flooding the dam in your territory AND plots to have you assassinated. You must cross through various counties, interact with Kitabatake's spies, locate his "Forbidden City" and assassinate him first. There are 2 charactors who are used as "keys" to unlocking different areas on the map. Keep them safe, and you should be able to progress.

"The Forbidden City" has something for everybody. A plot (for the dramatic type, like me), RPG, Fixed Force, Build-up-and-Conquer, puzzle elements galore, and a requirement of a bit of common sense. Whilst playing as a leader of a city, out to avenge an enemy for flooding my town, I was more than pleased to instantly recognize a classic, at least in my humble opinion.
"The Forbidden City" challenges the player with different tasks to fulfill, which is exactly why it is so fun. An instant 5 for playability.
The balance was a little too easy, before entering the Forbidden City, and yet after penetrating its gates, a little too hard. And yet, I still think it was above average. You will have to save at different times in the scenario, but in the end you will beat it.
The creativity was excellent. I loved seeing my flooded town, my villagers in dispair (cruel as it may sound, ), the elaborate riddles that challenged me as I attempted to enter the unknown, forbidden grounds, and all the other surprises. Great work here, Inq!
The Map Design was superb. Plainly looking at the Forbidden City and its gardens astounded me. Great work using cliffs, walls, buildings, terrain and everything else the map editor has to offer.
The story/instructions were also above average. Highly enjoyable to read, I found this introduction a little too short, and yet well written.
In conclusion, dear surfer, I reckon you will like this scenario no matter what kind of Ager you are. Boggle your mind with these riddles, hear the cries of panic by the residents of the Forbidden City! You will enjoy this scenario, I guarantee! |
