As an individual who enjoys all aspects of Oriental cultures, I was glad to see that there was a Japanese based Scenario for me to review. I didn't exactly know what I was getting into, as there was no description from the designer. Hm, let's see. As you can see from the 1 in Story/ Instructions, there wasn't any story OR instructions. I had no idea what was going on or what I was to do. Without even a hint of my purpose in the scenario, I had no motivation to go on. Maybe if there was a bmp with a small map that said "go here", I would have had something to go by. The instructions consisted of 1 phrase that didn't help. It kind of said, "I don't know what to say, so look in the hints". If the author didn't know what to say about the story, how would we decypher it?
Well, enough of the Story/ Instructions. I moved to map design. Here the author shined a little. The map was better than an average map. The editor was used well here. It's not the best map I've seen, but it was better than a random map. I normally look to the "sense" in a map, which was here, sort of. I didn't deduct any points from the map because I figured it was designed in a way that made sense when you entered it. That's another thing, playability was really low. After playing for about 1 hour, I was still not able to get to any of the sections of the map I had seen in the editor. I tried to receive direction from charactors running around, but they kept giving me mis-information. For instance, 1 man asked me to help him find some sheep and he'd give me 40 gold. Well, I didn't help him and later on he was "like thank you for helping me find my sheep, here's 40 gold", then he tributed me 40 FOOD. Inconsistancies like that were found in most of the game.
I also don't think Creativity was really high. I normally play a lot of B&D games, but occasionally play RTS and RPG games. I play enough of them to know what is well thought out and creative. Here, that was lacking. Most of the triggers were buggy and there was no new eye candy or triggering that I could see. Since I didn't even get through most of the map, I couldn't see the triggers "live" anyway, so I had to go through each one in the Scenario Editor and try them.
I guess in short, I am saying that this scenario had lots of potential but really fell short in the creativity and instruction department. Download it if you are interested in the Japanese Civ... I personally look forward reviewing more Japanese Scenarios.

Go HELL! The scanario is BUGGY!!! Unplayable! Except you want to get good map from this scanario! (This scanario is created by one of my friend using a random-map just using a few hours for "fun")
