The author of "The discovery of Amerika" returns with another campaign, this time a 9 scenario long epic. Somehow he managed to release this on the same day as the other. Category ratings are averages of all scenario content within, and ill make specific comments on certain scenarios that shed a particular light on that category.
Playability 1
In some scenarios obtaining victory is simple and straightforward enough, but its not fun to have win after win handed to you. Others are completely broken with no way to win.
Scenario Two: Its a FF to navigate a maze and kill all the bandits. The enemy forces have a B&D base and a much stronger army than you do. The only reinforcements provided on the map are wholly inadequate to the task. Its unwinnable.
Scenario Three:The enemy holds a epic stronghold, and you must raze it and its city to the ground. It has walls, castles and a big army, and you get a small weak army. You have 3 villagers and enough wood\stone to make a TC. There is only one resource on the map a massive forest on one edge of the world. The only way to win is to chop trees, plant farms, and sell it for gold and create an army.
Scenario Six: I received a "You are Victorious" before the game had finished loading fully. Thats a new record.
Scenario Nine: For the finale you start on a tiny island on a blank map with hundreds of units, friend and foe jammed together. Sit back and await the results of the carnage.
Balance 1
Scenario One: 99999 resources. Cannot make villagers but you have plenty of military recruitment facilities. Your post imperial while the enemy, a fixed force with no reinforcements, is dark age. A skilled tactician may be able to win using the starting army provided, or you could just spam expensive, fully upgraded units of your preference.
Scenario Four: Its a Fixed Force where your starting army faces off instantly against a red troop squad. Your troops are approx 3x stronger than their force and win on their own. Sit back, watch, and collect another win.
Creativity 2
The author varied up the gameplay from a random map sufficiently to avoid a minimum rating. He keeps creating interesting scenario concepts but not implementing it into the world much.
Map Design 1
Its well below the standard of even random maps.
5 blank maps
2 maps with 3 types of terrain each, no mixing
2 random maps, no modifications made
Story\Objectives 1
Its the most basic instructions and hints, and falls off entirely midway through and is simply blank objectives, hints, etc.
