One player scenario for "Age of Empires 2 The Conquerors"
"Mayans Destruction" is my best work on AOE2 ever. I`ve liked mysterious nations such as those in
AOE2 and so I made a scenario. It features very nice graphics on Mayans Main City and that is on
what I built it on. Then I started thinking, why not to make an scenario with the city? So I did.
And it really came up good. I think I`ve made it a bit hard for rookie players and hardest level
in this scenario is really the hardest one. When you make an scenario, then I suggest you to
ALWAYS make an AI script. It makes a great difference. I do not think I`ll make a campaign, but
if there are some campaign requests I can make them. In that case, send me an E-Mail and there
will be a good chance I`ll do it. Same goes on scenarios. Please send me an E-Mail of some bugs
or mistakes I`ve made in Mayans Destruction so I could surely update it. And if you have won the
scenario WITHOUT cheats (Please do not use `em) you may send me statistics (Time, Score, Special
Moments and on). If you do, then I will send you my new scenarios free (Include your E-Mail).
Mabey I am about to create a detail-effective campaign with Robin Hood...
Outline: This is a simple build and destroy style scenario.
Playability: This scenario started out not very much fun to play. There is not much room for maneuver on your small island base. Also all of your resources are bunched together which takes away the fun of searching for them, and I for one think that is one of the reasons which makes build and destroys fun to play. However when you mount your attack on you enemy the scenario picks up. Overall nothing special, nothing horrendous, average. 3 for playability.
Balance: In the description for this Mayan Destruction the author mentions that this is a difficult scenario and I agree. As this was one of the reasons the playability mark wasn’t lower and as the author states that this is meant to be a hard scenario. I shall mark the balance of Mayan Destruction 5.
Creativity: Well I am afraid this was the worst part of the pretty good scenario. The only new thing I saw, map design, story or trigger wise was a magic head in the ocean. Sorry but only a 2 for creativity. Not a one as there was the magic head.
Map Design: The map design is yet again, average. Most of the map is water but the city you must destroy is designed quite well. It is well planned out and has a nice “temple” area in the center. So I shall give a 4 for map design. [whisper]well maybe above average then.[/whisper]
Story/ Instructions: The story is simple; the Aztecs want to defeat the Mayans. There is only one hint, which is quite honest useless. The bitmap is very well done though and pushes this scenario up to a 3, for story and instructions,
Final note: This is an average scenario. The designer though definately shows, in some areas, that he/she could be a very good build and destroy designer. Well-done and good luck.
