Philipe - knight to paladin

Philipe, the poor farmer is now a knight. But, there is still one step left, to Paladin. Help Philipe now as a knight to become a paladin.

In this second scenario, we will follow Philipe to his ultimate wish, to become a Paladin. This is the last scenario in the Philipe-series.

I wish you a happy playing and any comments can be sent to

Stan2000 Hm, nice work Evil ElectraKnight. But I do not like Charlemagne's traitor (bodyguard).
Otherwise, a good scenario.
Map Design4.0
Well, well....this sure seemed interesting. I tried the first one in the series some time ago, "Philipe - from farmer to knight" and I can't say it was very good, I stopped playing it after 15 minutes just because of the lack of events.

How ever, I decided to give the next one in the series a chance to see if Evil ElectraKnight had improved somewhat, and this is what I found:

Well, the game had the old "get a job-finish the job-get another one-finish that one too"-style, which sometimes can be really good and sometimes really bad. What you mostly did was riding around the map talking to him or her. The dialogues was hardly interesting, but the missions was better. Since I had quite fun playing the map after all, I thought it deserved a middle-score as an RPS.

This was a really excellent piece. The battles in which you gained command of a smaller army to defeat an equaly-sized army was often though, and even if I did win I sometimes had to play them over since you may have needed the units later on too. All of the fights were weel-balanced except for maybe the last one, which drags the score down a level. The low number of enemies also lower the score, since there wasn't a lot of battles, just a few (well-balanced) ones. Because of this it only took me a short evening to complete.

Creativity: wasn't very create, and I'm sure it wasn't meant to be. Still, it had it's few moments where the plot turned. One part I DIDN'T like much though, was when you had completed a mission and was told to travel all over the map, and when you finally arrived it told you to go BACK again! How idiotic!

Map Design:
Electra EvilKnight hasn't ever used another terrain if it wasn't necessary for it to be placed there. The forests looks quite well since the author has taken the time to make them a little random, but the boring ground brings the grade down. The map had a few nice bits of eye-candy, but all in all it was just a map better then a random map, but worse then a really good one.

My oh my! It seems Electra EvilKnight only cared to playtest the battles! Sometimes you don't even get the chance to read the instructions, therefore you have to go into the chat-dialogue and read what was said there! Also, the story isn't very enchanting since all characters lacks personality. Personally if I could give all scenario-makers an advice, I'd tell them to download Ingo van Thiel's absolutely stunning adventure "The Kings Best Men" in which all the characters really act out and gives a certain personality and charisma to their hero.
Philipe-Knight to Paladin was how ever not very detailed, not very charismatic and really not timed.

Final Verdict:
I suppose this is an excellent map if you haven't played an RPS before since it has a lot of the elements in one. If you're new to this, download it, if you've played a lot of RPS' before; the only thing that makes it worth is the well-used balance in the battle scenes.

My personal score: 4.1

/Martyn...(County de Rennes, Battlefield dé Britania...both bad, but two goodie-demos upcoming ;)
