This Role-Playing Campaign takes place at the mithycal world of Dipthar, a world forged by sorcery and spellcasting, in the best ways of Fantasy RPG scenarios.
As it is true to any setting, any hero must have an antihero. In "Revenge Against the Xolas", the player is invited to do something different than other campaigns: here, the player plays the role of the villain, not the hero.
The story focuses on three men that fled from the CIty in the Lake, the capital of the Empire of Menoa. This empire was on the verge of world domination due to the fact that it claimed ownership of a magical artifact called "The Palace of Yellow Windows". While Menoa possessed this artifact, every citizen of this nation could completely mind control any being who was not a citizen of the nation of Menoa and were from the World of Dipthar.
But then came the Selentines. The Selentines were not people born in Dipthar, they were refugees from the panet Earth, who came from another empire called "Roman Empire". Being from outside of Dipthar, the Selentines were immune to the effects of the mind control, and thus they were able to destroy the palace of Yellow Windows. But a greater disaster would soon follow.
The Xolas were a race of purple humanoids who developed a advanced civilization. They were the first people to be mind-controlled by the Empire of Menoa. After the Selentines set them free by destroying the palace of Yellow Windows, the Xolas called for their most important spiritual leader, the High Priest of Golcanar. This man was the greatest priest of the god Golcanar, a deity pf the Xolas, and he mustered a army composed of vengeful Xolas and assaulted the City in the Lake, the seat of Power of the empire of Menoa. The empire was crushed by this assault, and lied in shambles. But three men from Menoa were able to escape the onslaught.
They were Adol, Jast and Tiber. These three evil men decided to join forces into a common goal. First, they would rescue a woman named Jain, who was the girlfriend of Adol. She was arrested by the Xolas shortly before the attack on the city in the lake. After they saved her, they vowed to avenge the destruction of the empire that they fought so hard to maintain by killing the person who was responsible for the destruction of the City in The Lake: The High Priest of Golcanar.
In the campaign, the player takes the role of the three evil men from Menoa, in their mad quest to slay the High Priest of Golcanar. A complete storyline is presented in a Rich Text Format file that accompanies the zip file of this campaign. The Rich Text format file can be opened in almost every text editor, like for example wordpad, and should be viewed before playing the campaign. To unzip this campaign, just download the file and unzip it in the directory where AOK is installed. The files will all go to their roper places. The RTF file will be placed in the directory where AOK is installed.

Highs: Great story since it changes from the typical hero based setting. Great Setting because the author worked hard in making that story. Excelllent Documentation that tells us about the characters and the setting.
Lows: In some scenarios it would be better to add more vegetation and animals to help the atmosphere. Some cities need to have more people. Like the second scenario.
Final Score: 86%
Final Recommendation: Please your mind, download it. |

Making this campaign surely costed you a lot of hard work. Unfortunately the result is somehow boring. Maybe you could add more life & good humour to some of the grat ideas you had? And work more on the maps design?
Anyway I give you 4,5 as far as I'm concerned. |

This was easily one of the greatest campaigns on this site. The exceptional use of RPG type gameplay made me keep playing through the entire campaign awaiting what would happen next. I really came to know Adol, Tiber, and Jast (the three main characters). Ovarall, this made an easy 9.5 out of 10. |

My apologies. My previous comments were based on the first 3 scenarios (actually I got stuck in the third - a bug was shutting down the game when I was reaching the place where the dragon supposely was).
Still I cheated to reach the fourth scenario and it's simply beautiful & imaginative. So far I found one bug - the militia who knows the wherebouts of the Harbour Master -pass him without paying him!
The rest is excellent! I congratulate you.
Still I wonder why Your campaign has not been reviewed officially while other campaigns, not neccesarily as good as yours, get reviewed so quickly?
My both campaigns "The Crusaders" have not been reviewed in spite of rather high popularity, for example. |

Great campaign! The storyline and action are fantastic... Things definitely pick up after the second scenario, however. I also experienced the 3rd scenario bug, and my whole system froze upon approaching the dragon, and I had to reboot. I was very disappointed, having come so far. I also cheated to the 4th scenario, and the rest of the campaign worked fine. In terms of design, the cities are maybe a bit too repetitive, and could use a bit more variation in buildings and eye candy, and maybe some active villagers. However, the layouts served the story very well, and the story was so interesting, I didn't find the design a flaw. I rate this an 8 out of ten, and a 9 if the 3rd scenario bug is fixed! |

Zanzard, you sent me this campaign via email.yeah,I know that I should reply via email, too.I'll do it,soon.I want to comment here cause I noticed the bug at the dragon scene, too. You should fix it,since it wastes the whole campaign! :(
Other than that,I second the other guys:the story is great, but the scenario design could be better.
At the first scenario,I 'destroyed the barracks, but I dint find the "shield",that was supposed to be there :(,so I cheated!
Yeah, you really can pass trough the militia at the fourth scenario.
I agree with the guy above:put different constructions in your cityes, they resembles cityes from AoE1,cause you use yurts and houses from the Dark Ages.put more peoples and make them more alive!
Do it and this will get a 8 or 9 from me!
P.s:sorry for the bad english. |

This campaign really deserves a rating(probably some way a over 4.0)! The story was incredible, perhaps one of the best I've played before. I almost felt like I was with Adol, Jast, and Tiber up to the time when Tiber and Adol(Menoa) joined the forces of evil, but perished in the end. I was also a bit mood-declined when Jast became a regular person in Kanea at the conclusion of the final scenario. It was an interesting adventure, though this scenario cries out for more eye candy and I agree that the cities are a bit too repetitive and need more and working villagers. Lots of Militia in Kanea in the second scenario is quite a plain idea.
Well at least the story had a happy ending, despite the separation of the three friends.:) |
